Exclamation Hamlin and Blaney water in fuel tank

NASCAR studying how Hamlin, Blaney had water in fuel: Denny Hamlin, who thought he had enough gas while leading when his car sputtered and didn't start with three laps remaining in the Pep Boys Auto 500, actually had water in his fuel cell at the time. Whether that caused him not to accelerate and get hit from behind by Martin Truex Jr. is uncertain, Joe Gibbs Racing Senior Vice President Jimmy Makar said Sunday night at Atlanta. But what is certain is that Hamlin and Bill Davis Racing's Dave Blaney had water in their fuel cells, and Roush Fenway Racing's Greg Biffle also might have had a similar situation. NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Director John Darby said that no water was found in the Sunoco pumps following the race. Darby said all of the Sunoco documentation from the weekend shows no water in the tanks.(SceneDaily.com)(10-28-2007)

Sounds like the fuel lines were contaminated like in aircraft!

Re: Hamlin and Blaney water in fuel tank

Fairly sure we heard Biffle confirm water tonight with Despain. Thought too heard Waltrip and Johnson also with same findings. Was in other room when this was on so can not swear we heard all correctly.

If so, sounds as if storage tank(s) or transporting tanker may be suspect.

Now you heard Darby the tanks are not suspected, now if the tanker was contaminated, then wouldn't the tanks be contaminated

OK Lil,
I am going to have to bite on this one. What do you know about aircraft and contaminated fuel systems? You can tell when one has been out to sea for a long while. The drinking water tastes like JP-5, and you wash it down with a slider.

Actually I do. When I was in high school I took pvt pilot lessons in Winchester, In! Had to quit because my Dr. messed up on my medical! I got to solo and everything! I loved it! Had to learn preflight and etc and know a little about the engine.

I love you. Your not married are ya? Does the aircraft go with you. Kind of like "Does the fishing boat and motor come with the package deal with the gal?"

What did you take your instruction in? Cessna 150 or a TraumaHawk?

Now that one got a good laugh this morning. I'll probably chuckle about that one all day long.

We used to have fuel pumps at the tracks. Is this still happening? It's been so long since I played on the fields with the big dogs. It would be easy to get contaminated fuel if they brought in a tanker. Since tanker trucks have a gravity feed that would be possible. The water would go out with the fuel to an unlucky team. How do you fix this? Easy answer grasshoppa. Dont be the first in line for fuel. Also we had this goo that would go on the end of a probe, and would change color when it came in contact with water. Now remember you chemistry nerds, water is heavier than fuel. So tilt the barrel (or what ever ya got your fuel in) and if something kind of looks like mercury at the bottom that will be our old friend "Murphy" who has come by to pay us a visit. Hell, this asshole is my brother. If only mom would have dropped him on his head instead of me, life would be more gooder.
