my son religiously listens to Mark Martin's radio traffic. usually it's concerned with the race strategy, but occasionally, like mentioned in my previous "Observations" post, it focuses on particular drivers and their actions. what most people don't know about Mark: he makes the tire decisions not the crew chief .. he tells them how much air to put in or take out and whether to change 2 or 4. he studies each tire after the race and catalogs it into his memory along with his recollection of how the car was handling during that particular part of the race.

just like people on a telephone, some talk a lot, other's don't. some only want info from the spotter, others like "group talks". some want constant updates about their lap times, track conditions, competitors lap times, etc., others only want to know about wrecks, spins, and debris.

Very interesting, thanks! I did enjoy listening to it during the race...it added a fun extra element to what was going on.
