| DEI members fired for Ginn Banner That's Racin' | 10/19/2007 | DEI cans trio of workers blamed for airborne shot at Bobby Ginn Interesting story. I guess it is appropriate, but still another screwed up story from the DEI-Ginn deal. I bet these guys have some loyalty to Sterling or Joe, but I would let those drivers fight their own battles. Or maybe they just thought it would be fun. I sure wouldn't risk my job for it though. Most of those guys at their level need to work, unlike the drivers and crew chiefs. |

| Re: DEI members fired for Ginn Banner That's messed up. Can't blame DEI for letting them go though. Oh well, now they can wait in the unemployment line with the rest that for whatever reason DEI didn't keep. That there was one expensive banner. Hope it was worth it to them. Hate to see people lose their jobs and all, but when they do stupid stuff and bring it on themselves, what can you say.

| Re: DEI members fired for Ginn Banner Sometimes the frustration of working at a place that has screwed you over just gets to you and you do dumb things. Someone near and dear to my heart works for a company that is absolutely horrible in every way. I won't bore you with details, but the stress of not getting paid, having health benefits illegally terminated, to name a few, has often made me wonder why the employees have not put their collective feet down and gone public. Well, DEI and Ginn have the answer - you're fired. And by the time the mess goes to an arbitrator or to court, you're finacially and emotionally ruined. The employees have the option of finding another job, and many have done or are doing so. Others try to ride it out because they have many years invested and a pension to think about. I'm sure there's a whole lot more to this story than we'll ever know.

| Re: DEI members fired for Ginn Banner I understand working in a place you may not like, been there done that. But on the other hand, I didn't do something stupid to lose my job just because the company didn't hire a friend of mine. |

| Re: DEI members fired for Ginn Banner It would appear to me that the persons involved were struck by an attack of Foo. Keeping in the spirit of that famous musical group, The Foo Fighters, we must always be vigilant and on the lookout for Foo. We must always remember that Foo must be fought wherever and when ever Foo is found to be fought. - DAVID POOLE (2007)

| Re: DEI members fired for Ginn Banner Quote:
I unabashedly stole that entire shtick from Morning Drive and David. David has always been one of my three favourite media types. (The other two are Monte Dutton and Dave Despain) I will always think it was censorship gone amok for SPEED to cave into Brian France and yank the Pit Bull program off the air. In case you don't remember, Pit Bull was a moderated panel show which discussed the weekly happenings in NASCAR. The panel was David Poole, Mike Mulhern - SPEED even had these two sitting side by side!? - Marty (I'd sell my soul for NASCAR) Smith and Ben Blake. I agree with David about 75-80% of the time and Marty...? He's the John Kerry of sports announcing, and I'll leave it at that. I like John Cernan and his rotating co-hosts on the 10-2 show, but getting a definitive opinion out of him is often like pulling teeth. Dave Moody is just another NASCAR shill and I listen to him sporadically. His professional callers; i.e. William from Mississippi, Oink, Jan, and all the others with the "private phone number, who so obviously stoke his ego and make him feel as though he actually matters, make my teeth itch and my hair hurt. To my personal liking there are only two motor sports shows worth listening to regularly on radio today, shows that don't fear treading on NA$CAR's tender toes. One is Morning Drive (especially when Marty is absent, which, blessedly is often) and the other is PRN's Pit Reporters, which SIRIUS doesn't carry and I have to listen to it in XM. |

| Re: DEI members fired for Ginn Banner I'm in agreement with most of that as well! I like Kernan, but only when Budddy is there. Craven is OK, and I'm usually not tuning in when LaJoi is there. He is OK, but not as much fun as Buddy! I don't get to hear much of Moody, but I don't like what i do hear. I usually catch the end of the morning show as I'm getting ready for work, and the start on my way home from work. And Pit Bulls was a GREAT show. It is missed by me! |

| Re: DEI members fired for Ginn Banner No one put them in jail, Petty. They were fired. Big difference. Freedom of speech doesn't give use the right to say anything we want without consequence. It just protects us from having our Imperial government punish us for what we say. |

| Re: DEI members fired for Ginn Banner So let's see here.Does DEI or Ginn own the Lowes track or the airspace over it?Did the banner flown over state an honest question? Was it a true or a slander statement question?Does your boss or company control what you do on your own time with your own money?Think I will stick on my side of the fence with this subject.Research Ginn and who/what he does and decide for yourself.I have! |
