| Lights at Martinsville? Clay Campbell, president of Martinsville Speedway, questions whether adding lights would make business sense because his track's Cup dates are typically in early April (it will be late March next year) and mid-October, when it can be downright chilly at night. "The thing that would push it over the edge for us maybe doing lights would be the other events that we do... like the Modified race and the Late Models," he said. Adding temporary lights presents issues, Campbell said, because they take up so much room. -- The Virginian-Pilot ARTICLE: NASCAR report: 'It's killing me,' Evernham says of winless season (The Virginian-Pilot - HamptonRoads.com/PilotOnline.com) |

Seems like a ton of variables when all they really need to do is make earlier starting times and be willing to cancel the race until tomorrow. Granted those answers won't cover every situation but I'm not real sure lights are the answer for every track. |

| Re: Lights at Martinsville? Didn't a similar debate go on with baseball long ago? (yeah, different sports so it's not the greatest comparison) I'd think that it would help for some races, particularly this time of year when there is so little daylight. |

| Re: Lights at Martinsville? Why spend all that money installing lights. Just start the races at 8 AM and then you should have plenty of day light to finish it. I don't much cotton to puttin' a roof over the track neither. I say a good set of all-weather radials on them cars and we wouldn't have to stop the race everytime it sprinkles a little bit!
