I'm about ready to start some major worrying insofar as RYR is concerned, PB.

If there has been any word, official or unofficial, about sponsorship for next season, I've missed it (which wouldn't be a major surprise). I hope Robert follows Junior Johnson's lead and puts as much distance between himself and the sport as possible for the next few years. This might get fugly and I'd hate to see Robert tainted.

Re: Yates loses again.

I agree Bob.Also read where they are shutting down their Busch team and just cut the driver loose at the end of 07 season, Speedofleicht.com: Stephen Leicht released from contract with Robert Yates Racing – October 2, 2007 If this keeps up it will not be anyone left to turn out the lights at the shop.

Knew this was comin after Yates talked about droppin the Busch program to focus on the cup teams. Stupid to let him go IMO. He has progressed quite well, and would be able to step up to cup.

I lost my faith in Doug Yates when RYR went through its last major shakeup. I see nothing in the direction things are progressing to change my opinion of the lad. Yes, I realize that Robert has had a hand in the downward spiral of RYR, too.

Sorry Yates. I know this is a sore point with you and I mean absolutely nothing to demean RYR. But with Doug at the con, I personally fear for the organization's future. I hope I'm proved very, very wrong. Wouldn't hurt my feelings one iota.

Re: Yates loses again.

Barraclough now crew chief on No. 88

Robert Yates Racing made changes at the shop on Monday that included the release of crew chief Butch Hylton on the No. 88 Snickers Ford. Charles "Cully" Barraclough will assume the role with Mike Wallace behind the wheel this weekend at Talladega.

Engineers Skip Eyler and Art Fowler were also let go.
Ricky Rudd continues therapy and would like to return to competition at Charlotte, but is still experiencing pain and limited range of motion in his left arm. The driver of the No. 88 Ford was injured in an accident at California Speedway on Sept. 2. Kenny Wallace has filled in for him since then.

You named this thread "Yates loses again". Well, what I read here is that it was a Yates decision, it's not like that they just left. Maybe it's not a good decision, but it might turn out to be a great decision. They have to start making changes somewhere, and it sounds like they are doing what they need to do, make decisions. Give them a chance!! But it's alright if you don't either, that's your opinion and you have the right to voice it, as so do I. I'm giving them a chance!! I think they will prevail!!

Go YATES Racing!!!!!

Hopefully by shaking the tree, from the top on down, it will create some beneficial change. Obviously change is needed. I'll be hoping they come out of it OK. They have been a staple in the racing world for a long time and at times have been the best. Time to return.

I believe that I'm safe in stating that, with very few exceptions, we all hope that you are correct.

I'm sure that it has been obvious that I'm a long time loyal fan of the Yates crew. We've been down many rough roads, but time and time again, have gotten up, dusted ourselves off and jumped back in the battle. I'm not giving up hope, because I believe there is still hope!! It's just another one of those rough roads we have previously traveled. Soon there has got to be some smooth roads for us to travel. They will get it turned around, I have faith!!

I have looked at Yates facts for many a year!! As far as losing an icon owner, Robert was already planning to retire, much to my dismay, but it was/is inevitable. As far as everybody else, well other teams have lost crew chiefs, etc., and they have continued. You say they lost a champ driver, well they lost a champ driver long before they lost D.J., in the form of Davey Allison!! As far as selling the 88 #, not thrilled about it, but it was done in friendship and respect for the Earnhardt name. At least, he stayed true, and is bringing the 28 back and keeping the 38 that he also chose. The 88 was brought in to keep D.J. running when Ernie Irvan came back after his accident.
