NASCAR Branding and Adverts

I never heard of AMP energy drink until Junior signed on the dotted line (although I knew who the National Guard are - and God Bless 'em!)

I never bought anything from "Bass Pro Shops" until I went to the website after seeing Smoke and Truex Jr.I must admit that Lowes and Home Depot and Office Depot have been places I seem to frequent more now than before. Although I wish Orchard Supply Hardware would get involved in NASCAR because the OSH is much closer to home than either Lowes or Home Depot.

Heck, after watching the ARCA race yesterday, I saw Cheap Caribbean on one of the cars and I'm now in "discussions" with the wife about making a trip to the islands located south and east of Florida after seeing some of the prices on that website that was all but obscure until yesterday!

I think y'all get my point... how important, or influential, are the adverts on the cars and trucks to you personally? Do they do the trick or are they meant for someone else? Will I not pump Shell gas because I'm not a Harvick fan? Of course not BUT... if I have a choice, I may not choose Shell first!

So, let's hear your stories... and be honest - no one knows who you really are so if you do get ridiculed, who's really going to care?!?

P.S. When will Rolling Rock or Corona sponsor some race teams?!?

Re: NASCAR Branding and Adverts

No it doesn't affect me. I can't stand Jimmie Johnson, but Lowes in my town is a hell alot cheaper than Home Depot. My mom on the other hand kind of takes an oppisite approach to it. She kind of picks her drivers by who sponsors them. She loves M&Ms so she was a huge Sadler fan. Now that KB will be driving for them she kind of changes her ways. She can't stand KB more than her love for M&Ms.

Oh boy, that's me. I haven't had a Coca Cola product in over five years. That's product. No Sprite, Minute Maid, Dasani, Hi-C, anything! I always drink Pepsi every race day and always eat Lays. I haven't set foot in a Home Depot in longer than I can remember. I am a sponser's dream I guess. But I don't use everything my favorites promote.

I support those that support the sport. But I do have limitations. I use the local mom and pop hardware store in town. Rarely do I go to Home Depot or Lowes. I dont like Hendricks Motor Sports so I stay away from Lowes. I use PPG paint, not Dupont. I drink Gatorade not Powerade. When I was a raging drunk it was Budweiser and Jack Daniels. I love M&M's and Snickers. When 76 was the fuel for NASCAR that what I ran in my car on the street. I use Spears fittings, we have to buy Goodyear tires because its a spec tire. Bummer dud there because Hoosiers are cheaper. I'm not so old to have had to use ******, but I'm sure I would have. To bad Krispy Kreme dont sponsor a car. All my cars and trucks have been Fords. All the race cars too, except now where I had to join the crowd and build a Honda. If you cant beat em, join em.

Re: NASCAR Branding and Adverts

Let's see, Jr is my fav and I don't drink. I don't like Johnson, but if Lowes is cheaper on what I'm buying, I go there. I'm not really influenced by none of the drivers or sponsors. I buy what I want regardless of who pushes the product. The only thing I've tried that a driver pushes is the Jeff Gordon energy drink. My daughter is a huge fan of his and tried one and got me to try it. She hated it and I liked it. But haven't had one since cause I'm not paying 3.00 for one.
As far as brand they drive for, we have a Chevy, Mazda, Nissan, Ponitac, Buick, Chrysler and Plymouth. So we're not really loyal to the brand our drivers drive.

Re: NASCAR Branding and Adverts

Well as you can guess Ward is my main man, but I don't have any plans to go out & buy a State water heater (knock on wood). Coke & Pepsi take turns going on sale every week so I just buy which ever one is on sale that day.
