Qualify 10th at Talledega.......

and Scott Riggs has to go home. Something has to be done about this ridiculous top 35 rule. It is by far the worst thing ever to happen in motorsports.

I agree...I dislike the top 35 rule, also. However, I think that the reason he qualified so well was that most of the top 35 cars did not go to qualifying trim and didn't make it a priority. With that said, I still believe that the fastest 43 should race and that there should be no guaranteed spots or provisionals.

Re: Qualify 10th at Talledega.......

With just two (?) more top 35ers not having qualified in the top 35, could Mikey have been starting 36th instead of being on the pole?

Didn't they say that three of the top 11 qualifiers went home?

When the announcers start to politely b*tch about this Top-35 thing, that's pretty bad.

I'm sick!

I take you back to September 23 the Chase is at Dover Clint Bowyer qualifies 41st but behind all of the go or go homers plus 1 that didn't make the race are going to leave the chasers out?

Very simple answer Bears .... if you don't make the top 43 then yes, NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE ... you go home. If you did well enough all year to make the chase then you should be able to make it in the end. If not ..... tough !!

Yea right, leave Wonder boy, little e or smoke out and what do you get?Revamped rules as in 10 going to 12 chasers to get them in.The whole thing called a Nascar cup championship is a big joke in today's time's.

Re: Qualify 10th at Talledega.......

And DJ goes all the way back to 43rd. I guess I should be used to this by now, but man, does this s*ck!

The commentators mentioned heat races. I don't like that idea either. The 43 fastest cars during qualifying are in the show. The rest go home. Period!

I noticed commercials for tickets for the remaining races ... hmmmmmm ... so much for the "playoff" theory!

Re: Qualify 10th at Talledega.......

I don't believe the top 35 try to hard to to qualify because they are already in. They get to concentrate more on their race set up and this is to their benefit. Granted they might have to try a little harder at Dover where last place has to share a pit, but thats about it.

Re: Qualify 10th at Talledega.......

I think what would be interesting and fun would be to have the top 35 spots determined by qualifying speeds...and the remaining cars run a 25 lap race with the top 8 finishers making the main race. This way a bad qualifying lap would not necessarily eliminate a top driver. They would have a 25 lap shoot-out to redeem themselves and possibly make the race.

Yup. I'm sure that's it. Chase was increased to 12 to try to get Jr. in. And next year, they'll move to 15 Chasers to try once again to ensure Jr. gets in. I don't think anyone has stopped watching solely because Jr. isn't in the Chase. I know I haven't!

Give me a break!
