Concerned by lack of Big name sponsors for Jr. ?

Am the only the only one who is concerned about Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s big name sponsors or lack there of. I hadn't heard of AMP until this was announced and the National Guard ya fine it was already with Hendrick but you can't sell the military so that kind of sucks too. I know they're saying AMP is like Pepsi, Mountain Dew, or something but the causal sports fan sees that and thinks it is AMP not Mountain Dew. But am the only one who is concerned about the sponser?

Isn't AMP a grocery store or something?

No big name sponsor?? Are you kidding me?? That Amp, Mountain Dew car is basicly sponsored by Pepsi!! They won't have any lack of funds. To my understanding, it is a full sponsor deal, even though they are sharing time with the national guard. I think the whole deal is said to be over 25 milliion a year.

Money won't be an issue!

Re: Concerned by lack of Big name sponsors for Jr. ?

I wish I could put a little sticker decal of a business I own on Jr.'s car because I might as well be putting that sticker on the space shuttle when it comes to advertising and revenue!

In spite of two champions in his stable, Hendrick could see the most profit ever seen by his organization with Junior! I have never seen the amount of following this man has generated in this sport... and maybe the only two other athletes who I think are equal to or slightly better than him as a product "seller" would have to be Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods. For some reason, middle America truly identifies with Junior and doesn't care about spending for his merchandise, regardless of what it is. I too have never heard of AMP until the announcement earlier this year but I surely have heard of it now!

There is irony in all this, if you haven't realized it by now. Jeff Gordon is frequently seen drinking his "24" energy drink at trackside interviews, etc. Well, as I understand it, AMP is a DIRECT competitor against the Jeff Gordon energy drink! Not only will they be competing against each other on the track, now we'll get to see how good or bad Junior competes against Gordon in the energy drink business! However, it would be no surprise to me at all if Junior wins by a landslide!

You're missing the point here, bears. Pepsi-Cola has invested, I would imagine, some big bucks into Junior. Junior's arugably the most recognizable and popular drivers on the Nextel circuit. So they want to use his popularity to help build up a newer, lesser know brand. Makes perfect business sense to me. Pepsi's paying Junior to help promote them, not the other way around.

I could care less if it was Fred's Frie's or Pete's Pizza as long as they pony up the 10 or 12 mill. a year each so the team can operate. It is all about the drivers today not the race teams.Pity.

"24" is made by Pepsi if you haven't realized it by now. So I doubt Pepsi sees it as competing against each other. I'm sure they see it has promoting their top energy drinks with the two top drivers in the sport. Kind of like RYR this year Mars had two brands on two cars. Mars didn't see it as M&Ms competing against Snickers. They had two of their top brands out on the track on race day. Now of course 24 wont be Gordons primary sponsor but you get the point.

I don't understand why it is a concern that is fans may not know what his sponsors are? Does it matter? Sponsor don't make the driver. They help by funding the drivers to get in good equipement. That is what matters for a sponsor. This isn't an Interstate Batteries deal. This is a $30 million dollar a year deal. As long as he runs up front and wins that is what his fans will care about. Besides if his fans are concerned and don't know what his sponsors are I'm sure they will be googling by the thousands.

Edit: After rereading your first post I think I understand your concerns. You are concerned that if Jr doesn't pump up the sales these sponsors will jump ship and the funds will cease? I think your worries are safe. These aren't .coms we are talking about. I'm sure National Guard can't wait to get all those Jr fans teenagers lining up out side the recruiters office. Plus the National Guard is funded by the government. I don't think (atleast I hope not lol) their well will be drying up any time soon. As for Amp I don't think you will have to worry with this one. If Amp fails as a product I'm sure Pepsi will just switch it out for another one of their top products...Pepsi, Mt Dew, Mug, Dt Dew and Pepsi, Frito Lay, Tropicana, Quaker...It is almost endless. Look at Mars they entered this sport with Skittles then switched to one of their top brands M&Ms and now Snickers. Relax this isn't an Interstate Batteries deal this is a $30 million dollar a year deal. The funds are there and will always be there. If for any reason these two need to jump ship there will be tons others ready for a piece of Jr.

I've been drinking AMP for a while now. Since I don't drink alcohol at least I can help support Hendricks with AMP.
