| Riggs will replace Green or Sauter? Scott Riggs has signed to drive for Haas/CNC Racing in 2008 and will replace either Jeff Green or Johnny Sauter on the NASCAR Nextel Cup team. David Stremme, who was replaced by Dario Franchitti at Chip Ganassi Racing, might also become Riggs' teammate. -- San Diego Union-Tribune SignOnSanDiego.com > Sports -- Pit Passes: Remembering a drag racing visionary |

| Re: Riggs will replace Green or Sauter? Updated: October 3, 2007, 2:57 PM ET Scott Riggs has signed a contract with Haas/CNC Racing to drive one of the team's two Chevrolets in 2008. "Its exciting for us to land a driver with Scott's leadership experience and great attitude," said general manager Joe Custer. "We're confident in our equipment. We believe Scott has the ability to get every bit of speed a car can offer." It is unknown whether Riggs will pilot Haas/CNC's No. 66 or No. 70 or who will back the team financially. Sources said current drivers Jeff Green and Johnny Sauter will be evaluated throughout the remainder of the 2007 season and a decision as to whom Riggs will replace will be made at the end of the year. There has been some speculation that ousted Chip Ganassi Racing driver David Stremme is a candidate for the other Haas/CNC Chevy. Riggs currently drives the No. 10 Dodge for Gillett Evernham Motorsports and ranks 36th in the championship standings. His future with the team has been in doubt for some time, as GEM has methodically sorted out its future plans and potential merger with Petty Enterprises. Going by this sounds like they don't even know which one he'll replace. But I'd go with it being Jeff Green too. |

| Re: Riggs will replace Green or Sauter? I'd say Sauter stays. Kid has talent and has a ton of upside. Green is a vet, but not a very good one. I beleive Green has shown all that he is going to show in his career. Atleast Sauter still has learning to do and can get better. As for Stremme, I'd say he takes the GEM spot. Even thought the 10 teams has been the worse of the open rides you have to think GEM is a much better organization. One thing to watch here is if PE and GEM get a merger done. What happens here? Valvoline to sponsor Bobby or Petty? This could give Patrick Carpentier a year or two in Busch then to replace Petty. Should be interesting. |

| Re: Riggs will replace Green or Sauter? First of all let me state that I hope, if anyone leaves it'll be Green. I lost my respect for him when he whined his way out of his ride at RCR. The initial thought I had when I heard this news was that whomever is running the HR Dept at Haas needs to be fired. To go public, giving a statement that "One of our two drivers will be let go at the end of this season; we're evaluating things and will get back to you at a later date," isn't the type of leadership which warms the cockles of one's heart. Imagine how you'd feel if your boss announced to the entire workforce that either you, or someone else in the organization doing roughly the same job you do, are going to be fired. They just haven't made up their minds who yet. That translates, roughly, to: "We have two dirtballs here and we have to decide which one if the more dirtball-ier." It's one thing to think that and make plans accordingly, but to announce it to the entire world smacks of really pee-poor leadership. I'd call it 21st century management. Imagine the pressure the drivers, the crew chiefs and the teams is now under. Really bad joojoo, in my estimation. Whoever goes (I hope it's Green), I think Riggs will be an asset to the organization. I don't know what happened at GEM but it looks kinda like (but not exactly) that Scott is the 2007 version of Casey Atwood.
