| NASCAR President for the Day I'm sorry if this has been discussed...I searched and didn't see a thread: If you could be in charge of NASCAR for 1 day and make 3 changes what would they be? Mine... 1. Reduce chase cars to 10 (from) 12. 2. Set up a new point system for chasers. Something along the lines of 15 pts for win, 9 for 2nd, 8 for third, down to 1 point for 10 among chase cars. 3. Have 43 fastest cars qualify for races...not top 35, provisionals, etc. |

| Re: NASCAR President for the Day <Sigh> So many needed rule changes, so little time... 1. Reduce the schedule to 28 races, plus of course, the Twin 250's, and The Winston. 2. Reduce the number of teams per owner to two only. Reduce the number of cars per team to a maximum of six. 3. Keep the point similar to what they are now with the following exception: 1st place would now be worth 225 points 2nd ... 200 3rd... 180 4th... 165 5th ... 155 6th thru 43 same as currently awarded 10 Pts for leading most laps, NO POINTS FOR LEADING A LAP 4. If a driver and/or team chooses to enter a BGN race, held in conjunction with a Cup race, said driver/team can practice ONLY in one division; either Cup or BGN. 5. Publish a rule book for all three major series and make it available to the public at a nominal cost. 6. Make it a steadfast rule that ALL decisions affecting competition during a race weekend will be made with good competition and fan satisfaction being the first consideration; the needs of sponsors, TV and the general media coming second. 7. Make it mandatory that any driver, from any division, no matter that driver's history, must compete in a minimum of three CTS and/or BGN Series races prior to being approved for competition in Cup. No exceptions. 8. All CTS, BGN and Cup competition vehicles MUST pass a pre-race inspection where each car shall meet factory template specifications. The only differences allowed would be a body-to-ground clearance of less 3" than stock height and modifications to wheel openings to compensate for racing tires. No spoiler, wings, air dams etc., etc. allowed UNLESS THIS IS AN OPTION OFFERED TO THE GENERAL BUYINGING PUBLIC BY THE MANUFACTURER. Failure to follow this rule would result in a fine and disqualification for one week for first offense, three races for second offense in a calendar year, and one year suspension for third infraction. 9. In order to protect local short track racing, no Cup race shall be held on a Saturday night. Races will be held ONLY on Sunday. Rain dates will be the next available day, or, since we have only 28 races, the next available Sunday. These are just the start... Be glad I'm not leading NASCAR. Be Very, very glad.

| Re: NASCAR President for the Day 1.Get rid of the top 35 and let the fastest 43 race. 2.Limit drivers to 1 lucky dog per race. 3. After a driver has wrecked, make the reporters wait about 30 minutes before interviewing them, and no more going to the garage to interview them while car is being repaired. Give them time to cool down before a mic is stuck in their face. |

Give them time to cool down before a mic is stuck in their face. better yet, give the drivers freedom of speach like the rest of the country. let thier teams and sponsores worry about it, and if you don't want to hear the reality and fustration of racing excersize you freedom to use your remote. |

| Re: NASCAR President for the Day 1. Only allow a driver one race entry per race weekend. If he is entered in the Cup race then he cannont enter the Busch or Truck race. I would however give the drivers 10 race weekends of their choosing where they get two entries. This should limit the cup drivers going over to the Nastionwide Series every weekend, but also allow for some fan friendly drivers everyonce in a while. 2. Set number of starting positions per race on the size of the track. Short tracks as in under 3/4 mile only get 35 starting positions. 1 to 1.5 mile tracks get 45 starting positions and 2+ mile tracks get 50 starting positions. This should help the racing at the shorter tracks and help teams make races at the larger tracks. Also only the fastest will race. No provisionals or gimmes. If you don't lay down the fastest lap you don't race. You get one do over if you spin in your qualifing lap. You will be able to come in and get new tires and get back in line. If you have mechanic failures during your lap and can get it fixed before the last scheduled car hits the track you can use your muligan. 3. Go back to the old points system. Except the points will be handled differently. 1. 150 2. 100 3. 90 4. 80 5. 70 6. 60 7. 50 8. 40 9. 30 10. 20 11 on back gets 10 points each. This points system should help keep it close unless one driver wins all the races. If that happens than that said driver deserves the Cup. 4. The Allstar race will rotate tracks every year to give fan bases around the nation a chance to get in on the fun. The Allstar race date will change every year to coincide with the said track they are going to race at. The race will be ran on the Thursday before the Sunday the Cup race is to be ran. 5. Tracks will only be given a second date if they can sell out atleast one of them. 6. Give Robby Gordon his win for the Canada race. I could go on but I'm tired. |

| Re: NASCAR President for the Day that's a lot to type at 2:50AM!!! I like some of the ideas .. others are not workable (like the All Star race .. NASCAR doesn't "own" it, the race sponsor does, they're just "hired" to officiate it.) |
