That was a good call PB but ..... speaking for just myself for sure (and maybe many others) it is the lack of actual on track, real racing experience that I (and maybe others) saw as the possible problem. I stated elsewhere that statistically he would have a higher chance of causing the big one. I agree that it doesn't guarantee that he will cause one, but averages were in his favor.

I won't ague about his abiulities as a champion driver, but it is in a totally different car. I'm pretty good at riding a bicycle but that doesn't make me a perfect candidiate for a unicycle does it ???

Heard this Villeneuve is going to Ray Evernham next year! What a joke! They will have so much emphasis on the V guy like they did with Montoya and thats why I can't stand them!

I highly doubt it, last I heard he was trying to buy into Bill Davis Racing. I'm pretty pissed about it, if true, since while I'm a fan of Jacques Villeneuve, I'm much less a fan of his manager Craig Pollock. The latter is a smooth talker who's achieved to alienate most of the F1 paddock and may very well do the same in Nascar (ie, stepping on everyone's toes). Alas, he's sort of a fatherly figure to JV (who's lost his dad in a fiery car crash).

You might have mistakenly assumed that 'the Canadian' referred to Villeneuve when, in fact, it referred to Patrick Carpentier, an other open wheeler who's due to start racing for Evernham/Gillett next year.

Nope, he'll only take part in the one or two COT events left.

Patrick Carpentier - is to be the Evernham Gillette pilot from top level open wheel. We make the "top level" distinction because the clear majority of the top level drivers in Cup these days are "open wheel" of some sort.

Re: Drivers don't like Villeneuve Debut in 'Dega

I'm not a race car car driver but from what I have seen watching years of motor sports in all different divisions. I can say I would rather race at 'dega with J.Villenueve then with say David Regan.

Oh, I thought I heard Villeneuve Sat during the race mentioned his last name and going to Evernham next year. Maybe I heard wrong.
