| M & M's According to an executive inside the company who declined to be named, Interstate Battery’s decision to scale back their efforts at Joe Gibbs Racing was primarily driven by sagging NASCAR TV ratings. The company also sent a memo to their distributors Wednesday saying that Interstate will be on the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 18 Chevy for 6 races and M&Ms on for the remainder of the 2008 season. Interstate has been a primary sponsor at Gibbs since their Cup debut in 1992. They will be the “official battery of Joe Gibbs Racing” and will have NFL ties.

| Re: M & M's UPDATE: David Gilliland knows he'll likely need a new sponsor following this season since M&M's has emerged as a candidate to sponsor Kyle Busch's #18 Joe Gibbs Racing entry in 2008. Gilliland, the Robert Yates Racing driver who has driven with M&M's sponsorship since he entered the Nextel Cup Series in August of last year, said he's aware that M&M's is likely headed elsewhere in 2008. "I read it on the Internet," he said Friday at Dover International Speedway, site of this weekend's Dodge Dealers 400. "My understanding was we had a contract that went through next year, so I don't know what happened with that. Hopefully we'll find another sponsor who wants to be here and support us next year." M&M's has made a decision and will announce its future sponsorship plans on Oct. 3, spokeswoman Rhonda King said Friday.(SceneDaily.com)(9-21-2007) They ****ed you!! UPDATE 2: on ESPN2's NASCAR Now, Angelique S. Chengelis said the announcement of M&M's sponsorship to the #18 Joe Gibbs racing team and Kyle Busch in 2008, will be announced Wednesday morning [Oct 3rd] in New York City.(9-28-2007) |

Nascar has made it to easy for a driver to decide I don't like this and get out of a contract, an owner can decide I don't like this and get out of a contract, and sponsors can decide I don't like this and get out of a contract. Nascar needs to step in and put a stop to all this. I realize a sponsor has to put up alot of money and they want a return on that money. But here they have a team that I imagine has set a budget for the 38 team for 2008 based on how much sponsor dollars they were gonna have. Now all of it's gone. That affects the whole team and thats not right. I'm a firm believer that if you have a contract with someone you honor it. |
