That's not really anything new. How many times have you heard people make fun of golf. Who want to chase a little white ball around in a pasture ??? My brother also is a non-NASCAR fan. Go fast, turn left ... that's all they do. I take those comments with a grain of salt.

I'm no drunk and no redneck and those piece of crap cars ???? 100 grand for an engine. I don't call that crap. The kid is just uninformed about the sport. Test him a bit and see who is the stupid one.

People are ignorant about what they don't know or understand. It's not limited to NASCAR, it's a part of anything in life.

I don't know much about NASCAR but I do know there's at least some strategy towards racing.

I agree. I watch football sometimes, but it is the most boring thing in the world compared to racing. That's just my opinion, I'd rather see cars go three wide than a football and two goal posts. I don't want to offend any of the football fans but that's just how I see it.

That's for sure. Ever so often I pick something up on here about some sport or other and I think, "I had no idea it was so complicated." The rules, the strategy.
And I'm not sure but I suspect there is a lot of strategy involved in racing.
And as you said, its true about all parts of life. What we dont know or bother to understand, we just are totally ignorant on the whole subject.

Hey, before I got into the sport, all I thought about NASCAR was a bunch of cars going fast & turning left... and yeah something about a lot of drunk rednecks. That was before I took the time to sit and watch a few races. Got in to the strategies of the track and the pit... its a chess game at 200mph most of the time.

I'm no redneck, but I've gotten pretty drunk watching some of these races. In the safety of my living room, of course. Or in Las Vegas.

Hey, to each thier own. I don't care who else likes racing. I like all forms of it! Some NHRA fans I know just roll thier eyes in disgust at "circle track racing"! When I want to mess with em, I just tell em drag racing is racing for folks with a short attention span! But it is all in good fun.

I hear it a lot, but i don't care! I would rather watch almost any form of motorsports over other sports, although I love em all!

Oh, yeah, my very own sister simply cannot get what I see in racing. She has decided it's the "stupidest sport on the planet". I happen to think that dubious distinction goes to Curling, but what do I know. Throw that "stone" and watch those "sweepers" work it, baby, work it! Whew, can't take the excitement.

Curling! That is such a riot! The only time I hear about that is in the Olympics!

I've never done it and only watched during the Olympics but the feel I get for it is that there is a lot of strategy in it. You need to position your stone for points yet try and set it up so the competition cannot knock it of the scoring area. Nope it's not 200 MPH but I'm sure it has a strong following at home.
