The Chase Works, and Gordon Will Win It.

By Matt Crossman - SportingNews

I imagine that one night in late 2003 or early 2004, NASCAR chairman Brian France went on a late-night bender of tequila and jalapeno guacamole. He fell into a deep sleep and was visited by strange visions and hallucinations. Out of those fevered, crazy dreams was born a revolution for the sport, and four years in, I have to say: Pass the Cuervo, buddy boy, the Chase for the NASCAR Nextel Cup works.
I have to admit, in the very early going, I thought France had maybe swallowed the worm one too many times. But as a wise man once said, the most annoying non-drunk is a former drunk, I'm totally on the Chase bandwagon now.

You know, I started to read this article ... with strong disagreement ... but continued out of curiosity.

Then I read "Speaking of who knows what could happen, NASCAR might tweak the Chase again next year, considering Dale Earnhardt Jr. missed it again. (They don't need another reason.)" I stopped reading, and no longer cared what this Bozo had to say.

Forgive me, but

Why do the ignorants think that The Chase was increased to 12 this year solely to try to ensure Jr. made it? Are they going to increase to 15 next year to try once again to ensure Jr. makes it? That's just flippin' insane!

I don't think Jr. has that kind of power! It's like the good old "conspiracy theory" with mystery debris cautions to ensure Gordon wins. Has no legs at all!

This guy should be writing for "People" magazine. He's swallowed too many worms himself!

Angry Penny!

Re: The Chase Works, and Gordon Will Win It.

I agree that it wasn't expanded to get Jr in but it was expanded to insure more of the better drivers got in. Last year Tony and Biffle would have been in had it been 12 drivers instead of 10.

As for the chase working ....... it really is a matter of opinion. I never wanted nor liked the chase. My feeling is that fans have been dis-interested in the final leg of the race season. There is far to much talk about the golden boys and the "what if's" and "if the race ended now".

I hate it that they just forget about the other 31 drivers on th etrack.
