Re: ESPN; the epitome of bad coverage

the worst thing about ESPN's coverage is that they are the sports channel. You would think if anybody would know how to cover a sport it would be the sports channel !!

Entertainment &
Sports
Programing
Network

That was their original mission. Now it is more about entertainment. If you ever see their morning program you'll most certainly understand that much of what they report involves entertainment type journalism. Please don't ever get them confused with real sports announcers or a real sports reporting network.

That explains the whole issue right there. I'm not so sure Entertainment and sports isn't actually Entertainment in sports. The audience ESPN caters to is beginning to care less and less about the sports than just the entertainment factor. Wrecks in NASCAR, fights In hockey, a game of beanball during a baseball game...

From what I can gather, anything they do care about is only because it's cool to care about, like college football's USC. All the kids love USC because it's in southern California, and that's the hip place to be. That's exactly the reason I don't care for them. Give me UNH, Boston College or North Carolina Ag & Tech any saturday. One more so than the others obviously.

Back on topic, SPEED's truck coverage will keep us all sane.
