Joey Logano, now 17, certainly has lived up to Mark Martin's vision as NASCAR's "next big thing" by winning in every racing division in which he has competed. Jeff Burton, who used to be Martin's teammate at Roush Racing, remembers Martin talking excitedly about the young driver. "I have through Mark Martin heard that Joey Logano was the next best thing coming," said Burton, who won the Nextel Cup race at Dover last September. "Mark Martin said that Joey Logano was going to be the guy to do it. When Mark tells me that, I have reason to believe him. He's an incredible judge of talent. "He identified Joey a long time ago and so I watched because of that. When he's ready and old enough, there will be opportunities at the Cup level for Joey, there's no doubt about it." Logano began racing quarter-midget cars when he was 6 and hasn't slowed down since, also competing in Stock, Late Model and American Speed Association race cars, among others. The driver's rapid ascent toward a career in NASCAR got a boost when Joe Gibbs Racing signed him to its driver development program in 2005.
