| Re: Military NASCAR Sponsorship Yeah, and who pays for the Army and Navy football teams?! The taxpayers! What a waste of our money. The Army Navy football programs should be cut and that money better used to employ tenured professors or subsidize congressional health care benefits!! I may be wrong, but I don't think the NASCAR sponsors make money from NASCAR. If I understand it correctly, they invest money into putting their names and logos on the cars and in return they hope to make profits from the advertising. Now just like any company that spends big money on recruiting so does our military. I'm thinking that the money spent by the Army to sponsor a NASCAR car probably comes out of their recruiting budget. Personally I'm proud to see the U.S. Army car out on the track. I think it's money well spent as opposed to the many other government waste programs enacted by our congress. I'm sure the money spent by our military on NASCAR pales in comparison to many other wasteful spending practices by our congress. Now the money the military spends to run a race car on the track for 20 seconds in comparison to what it costs for 4 - 5 fighter jets to do a 20 second fly over during a NASCAR event also pales in comparison. Perhaps we should also complain about the amount of tax payer money spent on these flyovers. Come on people have a little pride!

Unfortunately, in this day and age, the government would actually lose money on that tax. |
