Waltrip hires technical director Warren

According to the Associated Press, "Michael Waltrip hired Dr. Eric Warren as technical director, the first of many moves he hopes will strengthen his three-car team... Warren, who has a Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from North Carolina State University, spent the last five years as technical director at Evernham Motorsports. He was replaced midway through this season as team owner Ray Evernham refocused his energy on building cars to help his slumping team." Can he help Waltrip get things turned around?

I really believe that MWR has a multitude of problems that they need to focus on to become competitive. This won't hurt at all and should in fact be a boost for all the Toyo teams. He also either needs to get out of the car or let someone else run the company. I say get out of the car. He was never that good of a driver to begin with.

I think it'll help them hiring this guy. I mean he can't really hurt them and make them run much worse than they already do. I also believe that Mikey shouyld give some thought to getting out of the car, at least the rest of this year and next year. He needs to take the time to get the company on a some what solid footing and that needs to be his top priority right now.

He could bring Smokey Yunick back from the dead and hire him and it'd still be MWR, run by Michael Waltrip, and I'd still think he's a jerk.

Whoa Bob ... you're usually much more elegant when you make a call like this one. Guess I can't ask you how you really feel.

I fear tonight I have suffered greatly from "Modem-in-mouth Disease." For some reason, and I can't figure out exactly why, tonight hasn't been one of my more "elegant" nights. I think it was the thread about the Spanish language thingee. It's one of my "hot buttons" and things just seemed to roll downhill from there.

I've offered my mea culpa's and hopefully haven't had more than six or seven of our members here put me on <IGNORE>.

Oh well, tomorrow's another day and only three more until we leave for Alaska.

P.S. I tried to watch Dave Despain's "Inside NASCAR" with Dave, Schrader, Biffle and Mikey, last night. FWIW, I'm even more convinced that the guy is a bonefide jerk.

Sorry it took that much to make you realize it. At least now you know it.
