FOX vs ESPN vs TNT

I started watching Nascar with the Daytona 500 this year. I read a lot of complaints about FOX's coverage of the first part of the season. Not having watched NASCAR with any interest before this year, I had nothing to compare it to.

Well, now I do. And I've gotta say, I miss FOX's coverage a LOT. TNT was pretty bad, and even ESPN/ABC doesn't do as good of a job of getting cameras on the crashes, or even covering things like Yellow-flag pit stops.

Heck, for awhile, ESPN was simply running commercials over the yellow-flag pit stops.

FOX even seemed to do a better job of covering more than just the most popular drivers throughout the race.

I'll stop ranting for now, but if someone can, please explain to me why everyone was complaining about FOX, especially compared to the lousy coverage we've had the rest of the season?

It may have more to do with the announcers on FOX. A little Boogity goes a very long way.

I gotta agree with you. Fox coverage was far superior to the others and LSC I even like DW

I can appreciate that you like him. I remember him from years ago as a driver. My distaste for him started way back then and has only grown since he became an announcer. The only golden moment for him was when he was announcing the Daytona 500 and Mikey (then of DEI fame) won the race. Real emotions there. I just don't care for him today.

Re: FOX vs ESPN vs TNT

I prefer Fox by far, Much more than I thought I did. TNT was only around for 6 races and I honestly can't stand ESPN, and that feeling was only escalated this past weekend. The Fox guys can get a little crazy, but at least they have guys who know what there talking about and know how to put it on air. Fox also seems to embrace NASCAR's past way more than anyone else.

Heh, I can definitely say I didn't understand the Boogity thing until FOX was out of the picture. Now I see it as another signal that FOX cares more about NASCAR than the other networks.

On the other hand, I also think that ESPN's coverage has been improving somewhat over the last few races. I don't think I saw that stupid airflow graphic at all on Saturday.

Re: FOX vs ESPN vs TNT

I like Fox better. I only liked TNT when Petty was in the booth and I can't stand it on ESPN.
I can stand DW'S boogity thing once per race alot more that I can Rusty's " let me tell ya", about 50 times a race.

Re: FOX vs ESPN vs TNT

I'm gonna have to go with Fox too. If they could get Kyle over there to do more of those pieces about the old drivers, and ESPN's Dish Tech Center,
that would pretty much seal the deal for me with Fox.

I believe they used it at least once, which was one time to many.
