Here We Go Again - RCR Finds a Buddy

Hicks considering NASCAR investment: Richard Childress said Friday that Tom Hicks [owner of MLB's Texas Rangers] is "doing due diligence on our sport" and confirmed that he invited Hicks and members of his family to last Sunday's race at California. "They wanted to look at our sport," Childress said. "I think it would be great if they wanted to get involved." Hicks could not be reached for comment. But his son, Tom Hicks Jr., vice president of Hicks Sports Group, said the company is exploring options for possible sponsorship within the sport. "We would like to be opportunistic," he said, "and would consider making an investment in the sport if we thought a deal created value for the team and us."(Dallas Morning News)(9-8-2007)

John Henry/Red\Sox... Tom Hicks/Rangers...

Gee gang, I bet the above guys will love this idea:

Divide Cup into two divisions, the American and the National Division
Have a designated driver in the American Division only.
After the Playoffs, have the top three finishers in each division run a "World Series of Racing" seven race, six car trophy dash type race to determine the overall champion?

I've seen someone say that "Today's NASCAR ain't your daddy's NASCAR."

I'm not even sure today's NASCAR is even racing?

Wasn't the Cartwell Investments (I'll take your word on the firm, PB. It's been years since I first heard this) the firm RCR and Dale Sr. went to for possible financial assistance when Richard and Dale were trying to buy Texas World Speedway, before Bruton built the Fort Worth track?
