Haha i dont think that was a good move. Most of Toyotas team this year has sucked bad. I dont see Tony dominating next year while driving a Toyota

I believe it was said earlier in another thread sorry if I don't give credit due. Why not do it? Starting next year all the cars will be the same. With the COT teams wont have to worry about aero competition. What JGR will be working on is getting these engines up to par that is where Mark Conquist gets involved. This is more of a case of Toyota needing JGR and Mark Conquist more than JGR needing Toyota.

How does this help JGR? Now they are Toyota's top dog. They now have the unlimited resources that Toyota can give them. When I say unlimited resources I mean unlimited $$$$$$$$. Before they would have to fall in line behind RCR and Hendrick.

My question is I wonder how Mikey feels about this? I'm sure it is kind of like catch 22. Sucks that he is no longer Yota's top dog, but I'm sure he knows this will help his team as well. Should be interesting. JGR will get Toyota's first win and championship. Next year with JGR they will get 6 plus wins and a top 3 in the chase.

Gibbs going to Toyota has to be one of the worst kept secrets in NASCAR this season. IRT Stewart, it'll be interesting to see what kind of a sprint car program Toyota will have. Leffler says their midget engine is a winner?

IRT your predictions, I believe it'll take an Act of God to keep them from proving true.

Look at History:

CTS Series (Going from memory here)
2004: Four Toyota teams and two wins
2005: Eight Toyota teams and eight wins (most wins coming in last half of season)
2006: Nine teams and twelve wins
2007: Twelve teams and nine wins so far.

It pains me to say so but I don't see them having less success in Cup.

This century's Toyota is NASCAR's Hemi problems of the 60's. It'll be very, very interesting to see if this new NASCAR handles domination as the earlier version of NASCAR did. Somehow I believe this new NASCAR has sold its soul to big corporations and lacks the morality and the guts to deal with the problems Toyota's involvement in NASCAR presents.

I hope everything works out for Gibbs on this decision! They better work on the engines in the off season and make them better! Right about one thing Gibbs is top dog now and Toyota will give all resources they can to Gibbs. I know Tony isn't leaving but I remember him saying he would never drive a Toyota-he ate those words! I still love yea Tony and I will be cheering for you! Good luck!

I'm sorry, but I just can't used to the idea of Tony Stewart driving a Toyota. Maybe because I'm older, and I'm having a hard time accepting Toyotas in NASCAR to begin with. I know things and times are changing, but there are just some things that are gonna take more time for me to get used to than others. I guess the only saving grace for Tony (to me), is his USAC and WoO teams will stay Chevy.

Like I said in another thread, these CoT cars are identical except for the engines, but its the chassis that wins races. Toyota has roughly equal horsepower to the Big 3, but with Gibbs chassis/drivers, they will be a force to be reckoned with. JGR won't skip a beat.

They are certainly up on power from the start of the season. Look for them in the chase 08

Actually, I believe Brian Vickers mentioned something about the 'Yota power about mid season: seems the HP & Torque curves for the Chevy engine was made public and 'Yota engineers saw where Chevy had the advantage (coming off the corner), so they got busy and "re-curved" the 'Yotas. All of a sudden they are running with the Chevy's .. before they matched or bettered Chevy in HP & Torque, but had it in the wrong place...
