"Fatback" McSwain to retire

Michael "Fatback" McSwain has stated that at the end of this season he will retire. He has decided that family, friends and faith are more important to him than the job of crew chief.

He is hoping to get into some R&D or possibly getting into the CTS which has an easier schedule.

Not exactly Breaking News but I personally think its about time. Have zero respect for him after his treatment of Schrader this season....and that goes for the Wood Bros. too

Heard the interview on SIRIUS's Morning Drive Friday morning. VERY GOOD interview.

He did say he wanted to involve himself more in his community, both family and church. He said he has two very young children whom he wishes to see grow up. He alluded to the fact that he knows that there is more to life than NASCAR. Another interesting thing he said was something to the affect that he wanted to be home for his kid and to not have the problems some other NASCAR personnel have had?

He indicated that a CC spot on a CTS team wasn't out of the question. He was asked about Cup Lite and he said that series was as hectic and time consuming as Cup itself.

He sounded very humble and very up front in the interview. I gained a lot of respect for Fatback in the piece. I wish him well.

Clutch the way Na$car is today, I'm betting it was more sponsor pressure than The Wood Bros. or Fatbacks decision to dump Kenny.
