Welcome to the forum.

Gotta disagree.... With the positioning of the cars he got loose. He had been blockin yes, but it was the postioning of the cars.... he lost the air and got loose.

Was a huge Sr fan. But I'm neither toothless nor a hillbilly, might be a redneck, but never a hillbilly.

BS That is not racing. How much talent does it take to wreck someone? Hell I can even do that all day. I remember once at Pocono when Jeremy Mayfield punted Earnhardt out of the way on the last lap to get the win. Earnhardt cried like a sissy !!! Same treatment has never applied to him. Mayfield told him he had no reason to ***** because he had won 7 chanpionships doing the same. The more he wrecked cars the more his toothless fans cheered and the more NASCAR looked away. I hate it that he died. I really do. As much as I hated him I would never wish that on someone. I hated the hillbilly 3 fans more for blaming Marlin for his death. Watch the freakin video with your eyes open. He was blocking and drove up into Marlin so that Jr could win. He killed himself driving like an idiot who thinks the track belongs to him. It was inevitable that something bad was going to happen eventually driving like a fool.
I can't say as though I've ever heard anyone say that he was God-like. I to was never a fan of him. I didn't care for his style of driving and even today when I see that style used I dislike it.

Not really sure just what a hillbilly fan is but you can rest assured that if Dale had them as fans .... then they all had hillbilly fans. That isn't anything that was just about Dale.

I can accept, as an opinion, that you think he drove like an idiot. While I admit that I didn't like his style, he didn't get all those championships, wins, poles, top 5's, top 10's etc by being an idiot driver .... but that is just my opinion.

One thing I think Big Dale had, which I haven't seen mentioned here is Presence. Probably some of you know someone that, maybe without saying a word but by just being there, people just seem to naturally gravitate toward whenever things need to be straightened out.

Some people just have a certain stance, mannerism, look in their eyes, whatever, but they just seem, for some unknown reason, to be mutually nominated to be "'Da Man."

To me, Dale Senior was such a man. Some of it might have been publicity, some of it might have been how he stood up to the Family France when they were in disagreement, some of it might have been his driving ability on the track. I'm not sure that what he had was tangible but, like him or not, whatever it was, I think he "had it."

Just my personal thoughts and I could be very, very wrong...

Well, we have one thing in common. I too started following Cup in 1985, beyond that, we part ways.

I don't think anyone thought of Sr. as God. That's a bit of an assumption.

Wrecked someone almost every week? I don't think so. "Show me the money!"

If Sr. was such a jerk, why did every other driver hold the utmost respect for him? Do some research. You will find that Sr. was the first one to help out other teams with advice, engines, parts and the like.

Wow! I have a funny feeling we may not be hearing from you again, but I will say this: I am not "toothless". I have all my teeth and am quite educated.

Hillbilly 3 fans? Come on! I think you need to watch the video. Sr. didn't drive up into Marlin. And, oh, by the way, Jr. didn't win. Waltrip did. Killed himself? Are you kidding.

I don't know why I'm even responding to this ...

(I know ... off to the Trailer ... I'll never learn ...)

I've seen it many, many times. Haven't you? Someone comes in, makes a very strong statement, then we never hear from them again. It's nothing personal.

I love new members! We need more of them! I sure hope we do hear back from Witley!

Maybe because some of what was posted wasn't factual and some derogatory shots were taken.

Also Penny did the same as you suggested that Witley did.

How anyone can pigeon-hole or judge all fans on a personal level based on the driver(s) they support and cheer for, or the driver(s) they don't support and don't cheer for, is beyond me. It is baseless, has no bones, and frankly, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

Enough on this ...
