Busch: Hendrick knows what they'll be missing

Kyle Busch is driven by the knowledge that Hendrick Motorsports brought in Dale Earnhardt Jr. to replace him on the team for 2008. Busch signed on with Joe Gibbs Racing, where he'll team up in 2008 with Tony Stewart and Denny Hamlin, forming a formidable trio. Busch will replace JJ Yeley of Phoenix, who is now looking for a team for 2008. "(Hendrick Motorsports) know what they're going to be missing," Busch said. "They've had a Chase contender out of me the past two years, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. hasn't been in the Chase the past two years. "I'm just going out there (in his remaining races for Hendrick) to try to do the best that I possibly can and not to really worry about anything else. I'm mainly worried about making sure that Kyle Busch is as fast as he can be every week, be competitive and win races." -- Arizona Republic

New opportunities excite younger Busch

Re: Busch: Hendrick knows what they'll be missing

Hendrick knows exactly what the results of the swap are and he did it anyway. Kyle Busch still doesn't get why he was fired. It had nothing to do with performance and everything to do with attitude. He has yet to learn his lesson.

"I'm mainly worried about making sure that Kyle Busch is as fast as he can be every week, be competitive and win races."

Nothing has changed, Kyle has always come first to Kyle.

Even if Dale Jr. never makes the chase it Hendrick comes out ahead where it matters. Money.

What's wrong with that? Maybe I'm missing something. I would think that all drivers would be worried about running as fast as they can, being competitve and winning races. After all, isn't that what they're out there for?
People get upset about him saying that and they'd get upset if he said, "well I'm leaving after this year anyway so I'll just drive around the track kinda slow, and I'm not even gonna try to win a race".

There is nothing wrong with saying that until your selfishness affects team mates, owners and sponsors. Then you are out the door and all the performance in the world wont help.

Kyle is a great driver but his team mates don't want him, he has embarrassed his owner and angered his crew so he is out.

And every time he opens his yap he proves you right, Beth. I am beginning to think this kid is just never going to learn. Considering the amount of talent he has, it's a shame. What HMS will be missing is a giant pain in the hoozicha.

Saw where Jack Roush wasn't interested in signing Kyle. He said been there and don that.

That is the way of HMS. Once a driver is either leaving or has been canned, they treat him like he's got Smallpox like they did Brian Vickers last year.

Well, maybe so, but the point of this thread was Busch's remark, not how HMS did or did not treat him. The Busch brother's are their own worst enemies, and Hendrick didn't cause that.

Okay, I understand that. But if he said that lately, then it shouldn't really affect team mates, owner or sponsor. I bet the sponsor of the 5 team is glad he feels that way. As far as by doing that will get you out the door, well he's already being put out. Performance must help, Gibbs hired him.

The point of a thread like this is discussion or responding to someones comments, which is what I did. If it doesn't meet your criteria, simply ignore it.

let me see if I understand you right.

Kyle is selfish because he tried to run with this teammates at Daytona and Talladega but they hung him out to dry every time.

Kyle is selfish because both the 24 and 48 crew chiefs tried cheating on the COT, while Kyle and Casey didn't get the benefit of the "speed secret."

Kyle embarrassed his owner, a convicted felon by expressing his opinion about the COT, even though he won the first COT race (for his owner.)

Kyle is angering his owner and crew because he is in the Chase, and in line for each of them to get a big payday this winter at the New York banquet.

Kyle is also angering his owner and crew because he's not willing to give up his place in the Chase to Casey, who everybody knows deserves it more.

I'm surprised they didn't run him off before now...

Kyle also left the track at least twice before he was supposed to. Once while his crew was repairing his car and Jr had to drive it.
