Re: COT makes it hard to pass in Bristol

Kenseth came into this race looking for his third straight August victory here. But he was never in the game. And late in the race he got caught up in a wreck back in the pack and finished 39th. "I was kind of in the wrong place at the wrong time but we put ourselves there," Kenseth said. "We didn't perform good enough to run up front. "The racetrack is great. I just wish NASCAR would give us more options to make these cars turn a little bit better. It's pretty uneventful for a Bristol race because the cars are so easy to drive." It's certainly not the same old Bristol. "There are some things similar, but it was different than what it was," Kenseth said. "The track is great, and (the Busch race Friday) was an awesome race. "But these cars (the new cars of tomorrow) are just so easy to drive, and so tight (unwilling to turn well). And you can't do your little tricks. So, in my opinion, the driver can't really showcase his talent. "It's real hard to pass, and when you're stuck back there it gets frustrating." -- Winston-Salem Journal

Bull Poopy!

Sounds like a bunch of sour grapes from some prima donna drivers who failed to win, in a car that demands driving skills, and not engineering skills.

The raced i watched had more side by side racing and more passing than I've seen since Bristol went concrete.

To Mr.'s Kenseth, Johnson, Burton, and especially Mr. Stewart, who found it so difficult to pass that he came from deep in the field to a top five finish; to these gentlemen, may I humbly say...

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!

Thank you, RD! This pre-race, in your face, through the visor interviewing makes me crazy! My dad used to tell me that he got major butterflies before each race, no matter how big or small that race was. He would sit in the car, helmet on, ready to go, and visualize the start of the race, concentrating on the driving skills and habits that the drivers immediately around him had. This was his time to gear up, and nobody ever, ever, approached that car once he was in it. I mean come on, I've got to get myself together just to drive the whole one mile trip to Telly's Convenience store for a gallon of milk! I can't imagine what it must be like those few minutes before you hit the pavement to go 200 mph with 42 other cars 6 inches from each others bumbers. Give me a break! Leave these guys alone to get their heads and their strategies straight!

Re: COT makes it hard to pass in Bristol

Hard to pass...? As we were there, and saw car after car running in line, without making progress, despite the 'need' to get in front.... even the back markers could hold up the front runners, the only way to pass was when they 'gave way'......

The constant 'drone' of cars running at constant speed was almost hypnotic in the circuit...

Didnt anyone want to 'push it'...? drop a gear, redline it coming out of a turn...? Brakes...? Didnt see any 'glowing'... they were all on 'cruise control'....
