Cool Rudd to celebrate 900th start at California

Rudd to celebrate 900th career start at California: #88-Ricky Rudd, who will step down as a full time driver after the 2007 season, is scheduled to take the green flag for his 900th career Nextel Cup Series start for the Sharp Aquos 500 at California Speedway. Rudd will run a special scheme, the #88 Snickers Generation Max Ford Fusion. “This is a record that just kind of sneaks up on you,” Rudd said regarding his milestone career start. “I started out as one of the youngest guys in this sport and now I’m one of the oldest guys out there still racing. It’s a real honor to be able to have this kind of longevity with a long and fruitful career. I’ve been so lucky to have remained healthy and competitive to have made it to 900 starts, come Labor Day weekend in my Snickers Generation Max Ford Fusion.” Over this week, Mars US will help celebrate Rudd’s accomplishment by highlighting several of Rudd’s most memorable starts since his entrance into the NASCAR community in 1975.(Snickers Racing PR)(8-27-2007)

Thumbs down Re: Rudd to celebrate 900th start at California : thumbs down to no responses

Why is it that we have a thread 6 pages long about Earnhart and his legend, one 3 pages long about Montoya and "lack of fans"?!? And I have to go back to page 3 to find this thread about Rudd's 900th start?!? Worse yet, not even one response!!!! No congrats, no nothing!! There were more threads and responses about Martin and his retirement than you shake a stick at, and he isn't considered the "IronMan"!! And he didn't even retire after all the hoopla!!How totally sad for Ricky!! He put his "entire" life into the sport to be repaid without so much as a response to his decent career!! Well, at least here!!

Sadly, his 900th start will probably be his last!! Hopefully not, but I'm trying to be realistic!!

Thumbs up Re: Rudd to celebrate 900th start at California

I'm sorry,TY... I missed the post completely, however I am aware of his record.

I like Ricky and am sorry to see him go. But his performance has been slipping lately. I'm not sure if it's him or the team, or what. It's sad to see him start the year so well and slip backwards.

They interviewed him on TV this week (pre-race, if I remember right) and he said he wanted to make sure he wanted to retire, and now he's sure.

I wish him all the best in his retirement. He set a mark that won't be surpassed any time soon.

Re: Rudd to celebrate 900th start at California

Easy there T.Y. I think the world of Ricky as he is a hometown boy just down the road from me.I hate that he was hurt but glad it was not worse.Let's face a fact together that he was not going anywhere in the# 88 this year and I hope he quits before a Neil Bonnett deal happens.Understand what I am stateing?

Lets face a fact together?!? Do you think that I can't/don't see that there is still some sort of problem?

He already stated that this was his last year.

Yes, I understand what you are stating, did you understand the jest of my post? It was that there wasn't 1 response to this thread and it was buried on page 3!! He reached a milestone in longevity, that won't be surpassed for quite some time, and not one person could even say one thing about it. If it had been Gordon or Junior, then maybe it would have still been on the top page.

Re: Rudd to celebrate 900th start at California

I missed the post as well! I Hope he runs the rest of the year. Seems if you last name isn't Earnhardt, or if you don't drive for Roush or Hendrick, you can't get much media coverage.

I've also seen Mickey's fire 100 times, but very little mention of Keselowskis or Rudd, or the accidents, other than to show the wrecks. I just logged on, to see if they had any news on Ricks, and then checked in here.

How sad, indeed.

That is why he is the "Ironman"!! Before him, it was Terry Labonte!!
