Not an exact quote but among other things he mentioned that helped when lobbying NASCAR for things to go your way, rule changes etc... was how much national TV time your car's sponsor bought.
Food for thought. | When the car owners start running the show, it isn't pretty. If you want to see the possible future, look at CART and how a team owner-run organization fared. Outside of Bruton Smith, I just don't know if there are any Tony George's in NASCAR. (Of course, Tony G. has caved in so much, and has shown so much linguine-spined leadership, that IRL is almost back to what CART was prior to the split.)
