Anyone catch Jack Roush's comment after Bristol

Kenny Wallace was talking about Jack Roush's ability in the "politcal" end of NASCAR and the cat in the hat said something pretty interesting.

Not an exact quote but among other things he mentioned that helped when lobbying NASCAR for things to go your way, rule changes etc... was how much national TV time your car's sponsor bought.

Food for thought.

He has only said what we already knew. Sad as it is, money talks.

Yep, the days of a driver walking into the NASCAR offices and getting something changed or done, ended on February 18th, 2001.

When the car owners start running the show, it isn't pretty. If you want to see the possible future, look at CART and how a team owner-run organization fared. Outside of Bruton Smith, I just don't know if there are any Tony George's in NASCAR. (Of course, Tony G. has caved in so much, and has shown so much linguine-spined leadership, that IRL is almost back to what CART was prior to the split.)

NASCAR lost a leader that day, and pole vaulted into NA$CAR. IMHO

Yeah, and we all know what walks.

Is that why we're seeing a lot more Rousch related advertising these days?

Re: Anyone catch Jack Roush's comment after Bristol

Not only do we have the talents of Jack Roush, in this discussion. we have the wealth of John Henry and his Fenway Group.

When money and power of this magnitude get involved with anything you dearly love, be afwaid, be vwery afwraid.

Don't get me wrong. I DO NOT suffer from a terminal case of "Class Envy." I'm as big a capitalist as you'll probably find. I love wealth and have a lot of respect for the vast majority of wealthy people. However, wealth can also taint things and sport's competition is one thing money can REALLY screw up. That's where I'm coming from in amy above statements.
