Max Segal will make an announcement in Richmond in reference to th edriver line up for all the DEI cars. It is anticipated that Mark Martin will be in the 8 car. Now what do ya think about that ?

It isn't a full time ride for Mark. Aric Almirola will split seat time with Mark.

Re: # 8

I think it's a great choice to put Mark in the #8 and split time with Almirola. That'll be a good way to transition the car to a full time driver in 2009.

Re: # 8

I think it's a good idea to just put Mark and Aric in the #8.

Possibly the ONLY competitive driver DEI could have put in the car which wouldn't be greeted by "Boo's" from the Red Army at Daytona. An obvious choice based on (1) marketability, and (2) defense.

I salute Seigel for his potential choice, if it does actually happen. I kind of doubt the "24-26" races Mark will run in 2008 claim. My bet is that number will decrease.

Keep in mind Bob that the 8 car may no longer be red !!! I also suspect the former red army will be wearing other colors soon but will still have the same enthusiasm as before.

Well said, but I presume that it will be the sacred #8, of some colour. Actually, DEI might be well served to temporarily put that number in limbo (or purgatory, whichever the case may be) and get another number from NASCAR. Believe me, when THAT number [8] pulls onto the track next year, it will represent an itch that a high percentage of the current Red Army will feel compelled to scratch. Be it red, blue, fuchsia or taupe, if a driver who is not universally revered pulls onto the track in a #8, stand by for heavy rolls.

The next time they show Junior signing autographs, don't look at Junior, but look into the faces of the folks begging for his signature. It's scary. I've never heard or seen it mentioned in the media, but what do you think is the over/under on death threats to Teresa? My bet is in the high three figures or low four figures.

If you think I'm radical on my feelings about NA$CAR's administration, I'm a successful lobotomy compared to some of the Junior fans. Trust me on THAT!

I don't think so. It will be a hurdle we cross and will forget in due time. Many other numbers have re-appeared with no adverse effect. Dump the emotions and then discuss the numbers issue.

No No, Steve! Why I hear, locally, that Marie Lebeaux's (famed New Orleans voodoo queen) granddaughter has reopened just off Rampart Street and will sell voodoo dolls. (see below link) I'm sure that a special one could be made up in the shape of a #8 race car, for a price, of course.

Re: # 8

I'm not even gonna touch this one Bob. I get in enough trouble without even trying. $25.00 for a spell seems a little steep but I guess if the demand is there .......

I thought of that. However, the way I viewed it was: If you have the money for a race ticket, and a $1000 collection of red #8 tee shirts, #8 ball caps, fake #8 car parts, and a trophy case full of various #8 toy cars, what's $25 to cast a spell on "The Evil Stepmother" and her company? A mere pittance.

I'm on a fixed income so the spell would be my least expensive memory of the 8 Bud that I'd even be willing to do. But really if I were going to buy a spell I'd use it for something more important than a NASCAR family feud.

I know some Earnhardt fans who would really try this.
