Re: Best NASCAR Book out today

I read it and it was OK but the guy who wrote it came off as a snob. He visited the tracks throughout a season and wrote about things going on in the infield. I got the impression he didn't want to admit he could learn to enjoy the sport because he was a snob. The book was a present and I'm glad I didn't spend my money to buy it.

If you want knowledge of NASCAR and how it works, and NOT just another PEOPLE magazine-type piece about the drivers and their personalities, may I humbly suggest the following:

NASCAR Essential: Everything You Need to Know to be a Real Fan by David Poole and Jim McLaurin

Another with a lighthearted approach and a woman's point of view is Amazon.com: The Girl's Guide to NASCAR: Books: Liz Allison,Darrell Waltrip written by Davey Allison's wife with DW's "help". Because Liz is an "insider", her view is not that of a fan or journalist. And she covers the essentials...

Of course all of these titles come out of the woodwork at the END of the summer. I just had to mortgage my life again to afford new text books for this quarter, and now I do not have the time to recreationally read anything due to having to go through these text books in just 11 short weeks. How do kids go through college and party too? I dont party no more. If I did I couldnt get through school and be an honor roll kind of guy at the same time. If I thought 27 years ago I would be in college and getting good grades I would have laughed for a long time. And drank another beer to get the thought out of the mind.
