| Re: Junior: Deal for 8 scuttled by Teresa's bid for control bottom line is when drivers go to another team they don't take the number. I don't hear anybody bellyaching about Mark Martin driving the 01 after having the 6 for so many years. |

| Re: Junior: Deal for 8 scuttled by Teresa's bid for control DW didnt take the #88 when he left DiGard or did he take the #11 when he left Juniors team. But he finally got back his #17 after going to Hendricks. So good things can come to those that wait. |

| Re: Junior: Deal for 8 scuttled by Teresa's bid for control This is simply beyond funny. It's only a number! Maybe I'm wrong but however good, or bad, Junior is, as a driver, I doubt if his ability will change one iota whether he drives #8, #88, or #6.225 to the fifth power. This idea that an person's identity can be tied to a simple number is beyond my meager ability to relate to. The people who got "8" tattooed on their bodies are another matter which I have to idea how THAT thinking goes. An answer which would preclude this whole sordid affair from reappearing again in the future: Years ago, when the AAA sanctioned the Champ Car (Indy) Series, the season's points leader was assigned #1 for the following season. I suggest NASCAR take this a step farther (much to the chagrin of the purveyors of the over-priced souvenir schlock stuff) and award the numbers 1 thru 25 to the to 25 finishers in points. IF, for example, Jeffie wins this year, Tony came in second and Junior comes in third, Jeff would drive #1 in 2008, Stewart #2 and Junior #3 (which I'm sure would thrill a lot of fans, "STUPID IDEA," you say? Sure it is. But is it any sillier than this preoccupation over numbers?

| Re: Junior: Deal for 8 scuttled by Teresa's bid for control Quote:
MWR (Reutimann) has "OO" DEI (Truex) has "I" and (Martin) "OI" JGR (Hamlin) has "II" and (Stewart) "ZO" (somehow that seems appropriate) Yates (Elliott) has "ZI" "OZ" is up for grabs though I can think of several good candidates... HMS ought to snap up "PI" for Jr. cause nobody has enough skin to tatoo that number on themselves. but this brings up another whole area of (almost) duplicates: capital & small letters... the mind boggles
