Now that his Formula One career has come to an abrupt halt, Scott Speed is back in the U.S. pondering his future. The 24-year-old Californian was released earlier this month, midway though his second season with the Scuderia Toro Rosso team, which signed three-time Champ Car champion Sebastien Bourdais for next year. "Toro Rosso's decision to remove me from my racing seat prematurely has left me to consider other new opportunities," Speed said on his Web site. "I am coming back to America on a fact-finding tour looking at various racing series." Both U.S.-based open-wheel series are possibilities, but speculation centers on NASCAR because of Speed's ongoing relationship with Red Bull. His path to F-1 was paved by Red Bull, which owns a Nextel Cup team with drivers A.J. Allmendinger and Brian Vickers.
