Paul Andrews [former crew chief for Bobby Labonte] was seriously injured in an accident at his shop [Tim Andrews Busch East car] in Mooresville, NC late yesterday [Wednesday] afternoon. He fell off a ladder in the shop while changing a light bulb, and fell about 30 ft. to the floor. He was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. Andrews suffered a compression fracture of his spine, a crushed left ankle, and some broken bones in his right ankle.(8-17-2007)

30 feet!!! holy cow! that's like falling off a 3 story building! it may not kill ya, but it'll hurt for a long time.

here's wishing him a complete recovery... with those kinds of injuries there's high potential for loss of motion and stiffness the rest of his life.

As a crew chief, I'd imagine you'd expect to get hurt at the track, not falling off a ladder at your shop.
But that still sounds like a really bad fall he took. I sure hope he comes out of it ok. Best wishes to him and his family.

Mmmm.....Andrews (who we learn is leaving Petty Enterprises this week) has a hurt back from a fall; and Kyle Petty has a broken hand......mmm

but I seriously hope that they both recover quickly
