| Re: "Dale" debuts on CMT Anyone notice the response to the "theater" roll out in the form of reviews, comment, attendance, etc., on the film have been pretty much "silence"? There has been speculation that the subject of the film is no longer "relate-able" amongst much of the present fan base, attendance has been abysmal, and this is why it has so quickly reverted to the "small screen". It has not even been able to achieve ESPN, TNT, or FOX airtime. Six, now approaching seven, years is an eternity within the present movement of the sport. It is possible "3" has passed on far beyond the physical. Hard to fathom here, but --- |

point is: outta sight, outta mind. Dale's been gone too long in this fast paced world .. maybe in 20 years as folks start looking back.....

And no, you're not going to get a lot of press about it, because it's not being advertised like a big movie is. It's not being shown nationwide in hundreds of theaters. It was originally planned to show in only 40 markets as it followed the 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series around the country. So movie reviewers aren't gonna waste their time on it because they're too busy writing about Talladega Nights (for example). Info: CMT PRESS SITE And yes, it is inevitable that the "3" will eventually fade into history. That is the nature of things that pass. But as long as there are "3" fans still around, it will still be with us. Maybe one day, when all those fans are dead, then the "3" will just be a number. But like you say, that's hard for me to fathom, because I'm admittedly quite biased |

| Re: "Dale" debuts on CMT I'm so disappointed. Why do some people have to tear everything down? As a huge Sr. fan, I can't wait to see the film. Yes. The film is still relevant as it portrays the history of NASCAR (from what I have been told) and one of it's most popular drivers. The history of the sport is not irrelevant. If it's lost on the present fan base, too bad for them. Yes. Six years have gone by. Does that mean Sr. should be forgotten? No. People are still fascinated by many people who have lost their lives ... JFK being one of them ... no matter how long they have been gone. Don't even start! I'm not comparing Sr. to JFK. The movie "3" s*cked as far as I'm concerned, and came out far too soon after we lost Sr. I look forward to watching "Dale" no matter what the reviews are. I'll make my own decision as to whether or not "Dale" is worthy. I think I'll stop typing before I really get in trouble! (Thank you, 3FanForever for explaining the "plan".)

I almost mentioned Princess Diana as well. There has been a movie on several times this week. I lasted about the first 15 minutes, then changed the channel. I'm not interested in the last two days of her life. I'm much more interested in what she contributed during her life. That was my point. History should never be forgotten. Not even in NASCAR. There have been many threads debating the past and present NASCAR. All I'm trying to convey is that it might be beneficial for the "newbies" to take a look at historical moments of the sport as opposed to hopping on the "Golden Boy of the Season" bandwagon. Besides, I'd be willing to bet that those of us who were fans of the ol' Dale will buy the DVD. Unless, of course, it s*cks. The loss of Dale is sad. One year after or six years after. The only difference is that today when I see him, I smile. Whereas a few years ago when I saw him, I cried. |

last month's Reader's Digest has a condensation of "Diana" by Tina Brown. I'm a slow reader and have barely gotten thru the jokes (this one is my favorite: "a ship carrying blue paint collided with one carrying red paint .. the crew is believed to be marooned." I smile every time I think of it! |

Cute joke. I know I'm off topic, but even Elvis--the "other King"--is featured on Larry King tomorrow. Well, I guess that's tonight by my clock. I believe he died in August ... I don't remember ... that was a long time ago ... so I'm guessing that is why this special is airing. Doesn't matter how long it has been since someone left us. True icons will always be remembered. That's all I'm trying to say. I don't think "Dale" had a low box office rating because nobody cares anymore. This movie wouldn't appeal to the masses. That's understood. So ... enough. I think we've both made our points. I just checked my cable channels. I'm surprised I actually have CMT. I will be glued to the TV when anything related to "Dale" airs on CMT. |

| Re: "Dale" debuts on CMT I don't know about everywhere else but around here you couldn't buy tickets to it , they were given to poeple who bought new chevy vehicals. there were no advertisements. and was shown in off beat theaters not the regular movie houses. I don't think they were looking at high attendece records. all reviews I got were extemely high and recommended everyone to watch it not jusy Dale fans.
