Re: Centurion Boats @ The Glen Observations

if there were no competitors from the other country, would the fans' anthem still be played? maybe in French Canadien New England and some other "northern" provinces, but not elsewhere in the US.

in MLB, the Cuban anthem is not played, ever that I know of and yet there are millions of Cuban fans, both in attendance and watching on TV as well as many players from Cuba and/or Cuban heritage participating in almost every game. how is that fair? are the Cuban players and fans somehow not worthy?

fact is there's a double standard that's justified by who you are and where you are. but it doesn't make it right.

I can only speak for my neck of the woods, and again we are very close to the border, but I cannot remember even one time in my entire life, and that's a long time, that the Canadien flag has not been displayed while their anthem is played. This includes race tracks, college events, even soccer tournaments where Canadien teams are participating. Around here, a pretty substantial number of competitors and fans at any given medium to large sporting event are from north of the border. It's so common here we don't even think about it any more. Right or wrong, I don't know. It just is.

Re: Centurion Boats @ The Glen Observations

down here we are not close to any border but we are being overrun by the illegals. They are even opening up job centers for them so they don't hang out in shopping centers looking for work and the federal government pretends they can't do much about it. The playing of the Canadian anthem just rubs me the wrong way since the race was in the USA

For Nascar, Champ Car yes they do.
For Baseball, Hockey and other sport they do when one of the team is from the US.

Then I could go along with the Canadian anthem played at a NA$CAR event if they do like Duck says and play the anthem of JPM's country.

Re: Centurion Boats @ The Glen Observations

For Nascar, if the race is in the US play the US anthem, when in Mexico play Mexico's and if in Canada again play theirs. Playing at places that are "close" to the border but still in the US shouldn't matter, it should be the US anthem played. If they played the anthem for everybody from a different country thats in the race, some races they would just drag on for way to long. Baseball and all I can understand being different. They have 2 teams playing whereas Nascar has 43 teams playing.
