I haven't heard that SpaceCadet, but I wouldn't doubt it at all.
I've said numerous times that I'm waiting to hear how he feels about this.
I'm sure if he starts criticizing the move or having to drive a Toyota, somebody will report it.
Everything he says is under a microscope anyway.
And I'm not really sure how much clout a driver has over the money of the sponsors anymore.
Seems like none these days, the way they're programmed to only say good things.

It seems kind of ridiculous to me that the guy driving the car - the guy who needs to be comfortable and confident in that car - has little or no say. What's wrong with this picture?

I thought I had read that somewhere too. Don't know how much clout he has. I guess if they go to Toyota, and he has said that, we'll find out, but I think Gibbs will win that battle,if thats what he wants them to do.

depends on who's got the bigger checkbook: Home Depot or TRD. Tony is a short lived commodity, $$$ are forever .. until the next contract negotiations.

A true racer wants but one thing - the recognition associated with success at an individual event, or similar associated with success in the individual events (class/level/type/series/etc.) end of season recognition system. Toyota, Smoyota - position me for success - I'm yours.

Let history (past, now, and future) prove or dis-prove this.

yeah, if he left, only a few top chevy shops can "afford" him: DEI (no room), HMS (no room) and RCR (not likely)... next choices are Ford & Dodge, but if yer gonna change brands, why not stay with the folks you already know?

Gibbs moves to Toyota that would be a major mistake! What is the world coming too!

Hey Space cadet! I like your signature! Reminds me of someone!

The world as we know it is going to s#it! Where do the loyalties lie anymore?
If the undesireables were kept out we could have a better time. I dont like changes. Actually its a sociological problem. The brain is comfortable where its at. It dont like changes.

Re: Other GM teams concerned Gibbs to Toyota a done deal

My feeling is Tony is jumping ship. Contract talk has been stalled all summer. Gibbs had said extending Tony's contract was job one a couple of months ago. Could this be why Gibbs went after Kyle so heavily?

Tony leaving with Home depot could write his own ticket at DEI or RCR.

Just a thought

Re: Other GM teams concerned Gibbs to Toyota a done deal

Oh lemme imagine and pretend I'm playing in the environment of "Taj Mahal (sp?)" level motorsports.

Here we be, Jack's Mamma Racing hooked with Great Mother Co-operative, my vehicle manufacturer, racing parts provider, wind tunnel time sugar daddy, yadda, yadda. They like me. Seems they like me quite a bit. And they like my drivers - Tommy Shifter, Don Holdback, and next years addition Kar Banger. Love these boys. They can flat race anything. They all so - "wanna win". Win it all they do - Me and them gonna prevail. Seems at times like heaven.

But over there. Over there there's Hotshoe Motor Sports. Shifter, Holdback, and Banger, as much as I hate to admit it, pale compared to his pilots in the eyes of Great Mother Co-operative. (Posters note: Gonna go with "GMC" going forward - tired of typing). I disagree with GMC and as much as I tell them so, there's them "Golden Boys" with Hotshoe and their "Oh so American" sponsors". Heck, one of mine (sponsors) can build a house just as well as theirs. Try as I might, GMC just won't, and I'm not pretending that I do not understand their position, help me beat the crap out of Hotshoe. (Posters note: Gonna go with "HMS' going forward). While GMC repeatedly tells me that HMS gets no more help from them then do I - well crap they are a competitor and so, at another level are we. They and I are going to "go with and for a win(ner"). When it comes to those whose mamma (provider of support) is GMC, it appears fairly clear I'm most certainly, at the very best, #2.

But then just over my shoulder, and seemingly gaining, is Run Child Run motorsports. They had that dang guy Dom Earnmonee and friggin' GMC loved that hummer. Feelin' pinched between today and the past. Can't go on like this, got to make a move.

Wanna win do I (Hmmm - maybe do need that name change to Yoda Motorsports). Cannot really believe the support I need will be provided from GMC so long as HMS trumps me and Run Child Run looks to be closing the gap. And it's really gonna be difficult to trump HMS without GMC's support. What flippin' to do? Wanna win and win now.

At the knock, there's a door (Racer Duck - that line is for you and you alone). We open the portal - it's Michele Walrus and a shorter fella with dark hair and "less open" eyes. They wanna talk. They wanna win and win now - where have I felt that before? I invite them in. Friends(?) become scarce. I wanna win.

OK back to reality. Sorbet is ready for clearing the taste in preparation for the dinner courses. Will Jack (Single Barrel or Old #7) interfere with the absolute treat set before us? Perhaps, but we shall risk it.

Okay back to true (close to?) reality. If yer JGR and "top 'o the heap" is your goal, GMC simply is NOT going to chose you over HMS, and possibly soon another (RCR), and their soul mate DEI. You're (JGR) in all you do to be at the top. Gonna go with status quo? Whatta ya stupid?!?

Wing,

Nice post. I really enjoyed reading that one. Some of the boy's here could write one heck of a book with all the twists and turns.

Re: Other GM teams concerned Gibbs to Toyota a done deal

wing, great read .. 3 times! liked "less open" eyes.

is it only the younger that are better? seems some younger are having same problems as older, but younger gets spotlight. why?

and what happens if Tommy Shifter bolts and takes big money with him 'cause he doesn't like "less open" eyes?
