as it has been, so it will always be.
when one becomes the "darling" of an influential group, others develop an intense dislike for the one. some, such as you dear SpaceCadet, are immune to this phenomena. others mindlessly worship the "darling". the power of the "darling" over the worshipers is amazingly strong. some of the "group" become worshipers. the power increases.
power, or the appearance of power, breeds jealousy. jealousy = hate. those of like mind gather together and the hate intensifies. the fire burns brightly.
and what has the one done to deserve this hate? the "sin" is having been noticed by the "group" who make the average into celebrity.
