(8-8-07) In 2008, fans across the country will be introduced to a new racing series titled “The Old School Racing Champions Tour”. The twelve race series will feature retired to semi-retired stars of professional racing. NASCAR® Cup, Busch, and Truck Series winners as well as CART, Indy Car, and ARCA Series champions will be among the fan favorites competing on the circuit.
The events will be held in conjunction with NASCAR® races throughout the United States at a nearby track. For example, if the Cup series is running a Sunday event in North Carolina, a local short track will be the site of a Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday OSRCT race.

To date, many top notch drivers have committed to the series. Cale Yarborough, David Pearson, Buddy Baker, Geoff Bodine, Dave Marcis, Randy LaJoie, Tim Fedewa, Derrick Cope and others have all signed to compete in the inaugural season of the OSR Champion's Tour. Some thirty drivers will participate during the 2008 campaign.

how'd Derrick Cope get in there .. he's an "active driver" (at least he shows up with a car several times a year at cup races!)

wonder why James Hylton isn't in the list, or maybe he is....

don't see the Allisons either.

I guess The King doesn't have time for such foolishness .. after all, he's only 70 too bad, lots of folks would come out to see him wheel around a track again.

since you didn't give a source link, I can only speculate...

also noticed the drivers mentioned were only NASCAR .. what about the other series? AJ Foyt, Johnny Rutherford, etc.?

looks like right now it's a NASCAR show. I will have to keep a watch on this site for further news...

Last I heard Richard will not get into another race car due to a medical condition.

I'm sorry to hear that .. it would be great to see him wheel the ole Plymouth around a track, even at much reduced speed. But I guess even Kings are hobbled sometime...

I'd say that the same is probley true of my legends hero...Bobby Allison. They probley don't want him in a car due to the head injury he suffered that ended his racing career

I haven't visited the link yet, but whats the criteria for getting in, is age a factor, or just champoinships. love to see dave marcus run again.

Could be interesting/entertaining but it appears this is currently in the "float an idea" stage. There are no COMMITTED sponsors, tracks, drivers, at this point. INTERESTED yes, COMMITTED, no.
