Jayski has a story this morning that Dale Jarrett is considering retirement and that UPS is unhappy and looking at moving it's sponsorship to another team, possibly to the 16 team with Greg Biffle.

No offense to Jarrett fan's ,but PLEASE don't put him in the booth .All he can say every other word is "Uh " .That drives me nuts.The only good thing is that if he does go there maybe they will use him to replace Rusty and that way we won't have to listen to a biased driver due to a relative. *cough* Steven *cough* I would much rather have Mikey in the booth.

Toyota is rumored to be slashing the budget for Michael Waltrip Racing in 2008 forcing it to reduce from a three-car team to a two-car team. The money is rumored to be shifting to the soon to be announced Joe Gibb’s Racing 3-car effort of Kyle Busch, Tony Stewart and Denny Hamlin.

I could see it, really the only people who will be happy and want to drive a part time ride are young drivers/developmental drivers. Driving part time at Dale's age and it not being his choice has got to suck. I'd rather go out at the end of the year than be a hanger on. Even Bill Elliot looks better - since he's come back he has only used his provisional one time proving that he can at least race.

I wonder how happy David Rueterman is. I kinda like him. I'm not sure he would have a ride in cup if Mikey hadn't offered him one (at least for this year that may change now)..but he already stated he may look for a new ride next year because Mikey pulled him out for the road course and his quote was "I signed on to race a series - not selected races in a series". Not sure where his contract is but I remember Mikey saying the Aarons/BK car was not a 100% sure for next year so I assume that counts for the driver as well.

I'm not a big fan of Micheal Waltrip. However I don't hate the man and I don't wish him bad luck. But I do wonder why Toyota went with an unproven team right off the bat. If every current team was tied up with a car maker - why not get in talks and wait a year then start?

Starting a new team with an established car is hard, starting 3 cars on a team for a whole new organization and a new car maker...never made sense to me.

If the rumors are true and Toyota goes with JGR how long do you think Mikey can afford to run his cars? Already he stated last week on INC that he is loosing his ass off money wise.

I can't stand Mikey in the booth. I thought DJ was a hell of alot better than the crop of idiots we have been seeing, especially considering he has not done much announcing. And I'm not being biased, because I thought it would be great with Rusty in the booth... boy was I wrong

Last I heard DJ said it would be 2009, but maybe he has decided it's time... I still think if he had up to par equipment he could still hang with everyone.

problem is with all the new talent, there's not much available for a "past champ" who's not seen success for several years. an owner would only want the "past champ" with those credentials if he was struggling to get into the Chosen. Dale didn't help Mikey .. but then Mikey didn't help Mikey either!

How true those words are RD. I would love to see him get in to a team with good equipment... but then I think your right about no one bein interested in him.

It's not completely Dale's fault but if you can't win or even finish races, very few contending teams will even give him a second look. I've said this before but .... he's just plain old getting to old for the level of competition today.

I know David had said his contract was for one year. I hate to see Dale retire, I still like him. I still think he can race if given the equpiment. As far as Gibbs going to Toyota, I think it'll help Mikey, and the other Toyota teams.

My theory and this is really going out and probley not even close ,but none of the current Toyota team's are really strong ,winning team's ,so maybe they (Toyota) wanted a team that is strong and winning and JGR was the only team willing to go out on a limb .Then if they (JGR)comes to be a winning team there will be a team for the other Toyota team's to get advice from.

I mean there is MWR ,Red Bull ,Bill Davis None of which are winning team's. BDR has won what 5 race's since 93. JGR has 53 Cup wins and 3 title's since 1991

What I meant, is why switch to a new manufacturer that is not that strong when you are continuously competitive. It wasn't much of a switch from Pontiac to Chevy for JGR... however from Chevy to Yota is a big difference. Even though the bodies are the same... ahh, I guess I can see what your drivin at.

I believe JGR contract with Chevy is expiring and either isn't going to pick it back up or scale it back.
