I mean there is MWR ,Red Bull ,Bill Davis None of which are winning team's. BDR has won what 5 race's since 93. JGR has 53 Cup wins and 3 title's since 1991

Hope that makes sense
also there's the little matter of "factory support" that Chevy has announced they're cutting way back on. 'yota is open wallet and full speed R&D.

Do you really think people buy Chevy's based on what Stewart and Hamlin drive?

I don't....at least I hope not.

Maybe 30 years ago or more when a "stock" car might at least have a few parts with a geniune Chevrolet part number on it - but not nowdays.

the GM for GM believes they do. and he puts lots of bucks into advertising to the NASCAR crowd. win on sunday, sell on monday may not be as true today as it was in the past, but there's still folks who make purchase decisions based on which brand is winning races. and the phenomena is not limited to the US nor NASCAR.

you don't have to worry about genuine Chevrolet parts, every Chevy engine in Cup, Busch and CTS has 'em. in fact you can go to GM Performance and order some of them for your hot rod. but you won't get all the 'tweaks' added to them by RCR/DEI or JGR or HMS or any other team that builds engines. I've got complete aluminum heads and a matching intake on my SLM with Chevrolet part numbers cast into them - but you won't find my parts on any car (or truck) from a GM factory - they're for racing only. the other manufacturers have the same deal going .. in fact, you can order Roush parts from Ford in addition to Ford Racing parts.

My comment was not based on sales or the thought of. My comment was made on basis of GM having a dominant presence in NA$CAR and to me it would be silly to let one of the top notch teams using your brand to switch to another brand. I.E. putting your brand in future jeopeardy from competition. Think before you question, or ask the question in a different manner. As far as driving what a driver has.... I am a FORD man and my favorite driver drives a DAMN YOTA.

Re: Mikey Going To 2 Teams ?

The engines in cup cars nowdays are NOTHING like GM engines that your thinking of....

How many V-8 small block chevy's have the distributor in the front like fords????

It's morphed into a totally new engine now. Maybe the head bolt pattern is the same and that's all. But even then you couldn't bolt a standard SB head onto the new block and expect it to work.

I really don't understand why the car makers stay in NASCAR. When the cars nowdays look nothing like the factory ones what's the point? With the COT might as well be a spec race and have no car makers involved. I figure it's no different than say PEPSI advertising on a car then Chevy now - it's just putting your brand name out there with nothing to do with the car.

Don't think so? Look at a Ford Fusion in NASCAR - then hope in your car and go look at one on the Ford dealer lot....the one in NASCAR is raced as a 2 door intermediate and the one on the Ford dealer lot will be a 4 door car......

I have heard that if J.J. doesn't end up at RCR, Reutimann will.

definitely the Y-man is the top pick of the two, but either will do much better with an owner dedicated to putting the best on the track no matter who's driving.

IF you throw out the road races, I'm beginning to think that Reutimann might be one of the three most under rated drivers in Cup.

I think either one of them will do good at RCR.

if I remember right, he was the first 'yota driver to make a race on time. and he deserves extra points for having put up with the Wit brothers (he's driven for both!!!)

That's what I think. He's 5 spots out of the top 35 and missed a few races. Several others his engine just let go while racing - like Talledaga where he was running in the top 10.

He doesn't get much press in the Busch series either for whatever reason.

Re: Mikey Going To 2 Teams ?

Hmm well on Monday night Mikey said he was trying to either keep or locate new sponsorship for the 00 car for next year....so that sounds like it's not sewn up yet.
