| Kyle Busch To 18 Kyle Busch has finally decided where he will race next season, agreeing to a deal to drive the #18 Interstate Batteries machine for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2008 and beyond. Busch will replace J.J. Yeley, who will move to Wood Brothers/JTG Racing next season to steer the #21 Ford. The part that I don't like is JJ going to the 21 ,as I so wanted him to go to Yates

Re: jayski.com UPDATE 2: Kyle Busch has finally decided where he will race next season, agreeing to a deal to drive the #18 Interstate Batteries machine for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2008 and beyond. Busch will replace J.J. Yeley, who will move to Wood Brothers/JTG Racing next season to steer the #21 Ford. Busch made his decision after recently narrowing the field to three teams; Gibbs, Dale Earnhardt, Inc., and Evernham Motorsports. An official announcement is expected within the next 2-3 weeks. In addition, JGR will jump from Chevrolet to the Toyota camp beginning in 2008, joining Michael Waltrip Racing, Bill Davis Racing and Team Red Bull on the list of teams running Toyota Camrys. Neither Busch nor JGR have made any official comment on the move, but Gibbs officials have already informed Hall of Fame Racing that they will not continue to provide the team with engines next season, prompting Hall Of Fame to contact Richard Childress Racing about a similar engine-supply deal for 2008.(Motorsports Soapbox)(8-6-2007) At least it appears that J.J. ended up better than Regan Smith did. I hope that he does well with The Wood Brothers.

| Re: Kyle Busch To 18 Tony, Kyle, and Denny. Talk about a potential "dream team!" I'm still kind of shocked that Toyota went with Gibbs. I honestly believed that either Ganassi or Penske would have been the logical (and easiest) choice. At least it looks as though J.J. is going to land on his feet, with Eddie Wood. Speaking of the Wood Brothers, Duck, what do you make of the story about Jon having an "adverse reaction to medication?" It just seems strange to me that back when Jon and Carl Edwards started in CTS together with Roush they were both pretty equal. Then Carl began his meteoric rise and Jon just sort of went <splat!> Very odd. |

ok, someone finally asked my opinion, so I'm honor bound to give it. I understand the "adverse reaction to medication" 'cause I've had a few, but not like his. I also know that there's also been folks addicted to medications that would never have taken then if they thought there was the slightest possibility of addiction (my son decided to "tough it out" upon realizing his mild addiction to pain killers after his back operation.) Something happened to Jon .. don't know if it was mental or physical. but he's not the same guy who looked to have the world by the tail in CTS. I hope he gets whatever it is taken care of .. I hate seeing talent go into the trash can...

| Re: Kyle Busch To 18 I wonder what Tony and Denny think about driving Toyota's next year? And I agree, the '08 season is going to be very interesting. I don't think we've seen the last of the changes yet. Just today, Gillett and Evernham signed the deal to merge. |

I empathize with your son. Went through the same thing when they flew me back from 'Nam. I just don't touch anything addictive and haven't for years. 'Nuff on that one. I'm glad someone else saw the way Jon's career has hit a wall. I don't know what the trouble is,, and it's obviously none of my business but it's still a puzzle to me. As you do, I wish the kid well but J.J.'s possibility of getting that ride doesn't bode well for him. |

| Re: Kyle Busch To 18 Stewart, Busch, Hamlin, Gibbs - holy crap! Toyo just slapped a grand slam. Toyo gets their first win(s) next year. Maybe even a championship is within the realm of the possible. Shocked, impressed, and really looking to see how all in this marriage do next year. |

| Re: Kyle Busch To 18 Don't be surprised (too surprised, anyway) if Blaney doesn't put a notch in his steering wheel this season. |

Agree!! He is the one, and the ONLY one, that gave me pause when predicting the first win would be next year. BDR was the only "switch to Toyo" that had race tested chassis this year and we tend towards seeing this as contributing to their level of success. And then there's Blaney, who we here see as perhaps one of the most under rated/recognized racers in Cup. On the down side, not so sure BDR will ever attain levels necessary to run with the top guns. |

| Re: Kyle Busch To 18 But if they position themselves to be in advantage of someone elses miscue then they can be in the catbird seat. Remember Ward at the 500 when Sterlin pulled his fender out. Ward capitalized off of Sterlin tryin to work on his car while under the red flag.
