| Juan Pablo Montoya August 2nd, 2007 in NASCAR Juan Pablo Montoya will race in his final Busch Series event next week at Watkins Glen, then the team will stop competing. Chip Ganassi Racing officials said Wednesday the No. 42 Busch program was formed only to help Montoya adjust to NASCAR after six seasons in Formula One. He drove the car to a win in March on the road course in Mexico City, and will try for another one in Watkins Glen, N.Y., next Saturday. After that, Ganassi will stop operating the team because the remainder of the schedule isn’t a good fit with Montoya’s Nextel Cup season |

| Re: Juan Pablo Montoya I would agree, BBW, but the fact is that it just IS NOT Busch grand National anymore. It's just another venue for NASCAR to let the people who attend the Cup weekend to see the Cup drivers in slightly different cars racing against slightly less talented drivers. It is there to increase NASCAR's bottom line.

I assume at some point Busch will go to COT cars, until then I'd rather watch 40+ cup raiders in Busch than them in COT cars. |

| Re: Juan Pablo Montoya We can agree to disagree, and I'll respect your opinion. |

| Re: Juan Pablo Montoya The current car looks like a NASCAR racecar because... well that's exactly what it is. It's the original NASCAR mobile, which doesn't even look like a car in general let alone the street cars they were supposed to be like years ago. One plus the COT has is that although there is still no distinction between the manufactures it at least looks like a car. The current car is also more aero dependant, and I don't like watching aero racing (maybe a GTG dictionary term?). |

| Re: Juan Pablo Montoya I disagree that the COT looks like a NASCAR just because NASCAR says it's a NASCAR. Look at all the full fendered oval cars from dirt on up. Even something like a dirt late model looked a lot like a current cup car when viewed from the front. Out of all those cars which one doesn't look anything like the others.....there's a steady progression from dirt cars on up to stuff like ARCA (which uses old cup cars so that's a no brainer) and Busch cars - then suddenly you jump to the new Cup cars which are nothing in appearance like the others. |

| Re: Juan Pablo Montoya I agree there, but at least Montoya used the Busch as his development series to learn the tracks. Now that he has seen the Cup race track, he will concentrate on cup. I know that Edwards want the Busch championship, but he his not learning much about Nascar driving. The same apply to every buschwacker. I am not a fan a Truex, but he is the last "legit" busch champion |

I think about half or more of the "buschwackers are guys who just like to race and would rather spend their time racing .. whatever knowledge they gain about a track they'll be racing the next day is gravy, not the main course. There's also some who have commitments that are best satisfied in Busch. But, I agree: there's too many of them.

Darn, I just hate to disagree with you, Duck. It just ruins my day, but... At Daytona, where there was a big Cup Lite purse and there was knowledge to gain there were 21 Cup Raiders in the starting field. At Chicago where there was knowledge to gain Cup Raiders numbered 24! At IRP, where there was no knowledge to be gained, a grand total of 6 Cup Raiders were in the starting field. Now, think back and tell me which of these three examples gave us the best overall racing. MY vote is the race at IRP. It makes me feel good to think that they're just out there having a few chucks and swapping some paint but in reality, they're just taking advantage of NA$CAR desire to make money and they've turned the BGN Series into a travesty. |
