Busch series will compete in the rain?

In one change from the Cup side, the Busch series will compete in the rain, if necessary, in upcoming road-course events at Montreal and Watkins Glen, N.Y. Goodyear will have rain tires on hand for both events and NASCAR officials said they will do whatever possible to make sure the events run on the day scheduled. Cars will also feature windshield wipers, defrosters and rear lights. -- Charlotte Observer

Wow, that is awesome! I hope they can do this for the Cup cars soon.

Btw, is it impossible to have rain tires for ovals? It would be cool to see Goodyear try and develop something like that.

NASCAR tried this twice for the Cup cars at the Glen, either '03 and '04 or '04 and '05. Even had the windshield wipers on the cars in qualifying, but it never wound up being needed. I'm not sure why they stopped doing it.

Re: Busch series will compete in the rain?

I thought the whole idea was tossed because the cars could not run up to speed in the rain no matter what tire they had on.

Re: Busch series will compete in the rain?

Interesting article and I'm guessing it is not current since it refers to Mark & Rusty. In that case it would seem that no progress has been made in the fogging issue.
