| So, I was listening to the radio the other day and I heard that NASCAR and Harlequin Romance were teaming up...I kept waiting for the punchline but there wasn't one, unless that was it. Anyway, it seems odd until you remember that there are millions of female NASCAR fans, so I suppose the demographics do overlap somewhat. Writers are already penning racing romances anyway -- now they can actually say "NASCAR" instead of "stock car." Both NASCAR and Harlequin will probably make a bazillion bucks. Where do I sign up? |

| Bah, Humbug! You know how al those romance novels features male heroes without their shirts on the covers? I can't wait to see the one with a shirtless Benny Parsons on the cover! Or Cale Yarborough! I love Benny and Cale, but I'm not sure they're romance novel cover material. |

| On the other hand... True, but if the girl with the ripped bodice was Danica Patrick or Melanie Penney, I might buy 'em myself. And just think of all the new metaphors those writers can use, from revving of engines to, um, lapping the competition. |

| Re: NASCAR and Romance Novels NASCAR is finally understanding what has been known for the last 3,000 years. The women’s world totally revolves about the axis of sexuality. Throw a Gordon-Like character in the mix and you will see an explosion of intensity never before seen. The kitty kat fight between the Biffle chick and Kurt’s babe is just a pimple on a tick on the butt of a hyena compared to the BILLIONS &BILLIONS that can be made with this idea. It will be fun watching this thing play out. Done and done. |

Since I’m not of the female persuasion, I can never figure out what goes on in the woman’s head nor does it really make a lot of sense to do so. But you are only partially right. A Man's world revolves around SEX only for the time that he is, shall we say aroused. The other 23 hours of the day, they are out fighting wars, building bridges, putting out fires, laying asphalt, driving race cars…you get the picture, you know the stuff that really makes the world go round. The way I see it, NASCAR is seeing $$$$$ with this romance novel thing. They know, and so do you, that they want to gain a higher woman demographic and what better way than to get at the core of woman – the feminine essence. I like your feistiness. The next time I’m in Parkersburg we should party. By the way, I kind of like that axis thing. Done and done. |

| Re: NASCAR and Romance Novels IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY Sexuality is the female sport. Just as Jimmie Johnson wants to ‘beat’ Kurt Busch out on the track on any given Sunday, often YOUNG woman want to ‘beat’ that other chick in the game of sexuality. And if NASCAR has their way, women will go for the Jeff Gordons of the world. Remember - Kitty Kats Kompete and they got plenty to spend. Ratings go up and more green is deposited in the pockets of the Man. All you have to do is write a good story and the rest is GOLDEN. Done and done. |

| Re: NASCAR and Romance Novels Oh My God .... All I want to do is watch the race. Is this going to turn into the dating game too ??? Will there be a new reality show this fall or maybe it'll be a soap opera .... "For The Love Of NASCAR" or "As NASCAR Turns" or maybe even something like "The Young & Restless of The Speedway" What is going on ?????????????

| Re: NASCAR and Romance Novels I won't be caught dead with one of those books if it really happens. They are getty so greedy that the fans money is not not enough in their pockets now they want the NASCAR "wannabees" money too. NASCAR is going to be their own downfall....they are well on their way to satuarting us with their presence. Eventually people will get sick of the hype and HOPEFULLY all that will remain are the true fans and some stock car races. Just my opinion..... |
