Stewart on Tuesday was fined $25,000 and stripped of 25 driver points for using inappropriate language during a live post-race interview on ESPN following his victory in Sunday's Allstate 400. During his interview, Stewart said, "This is for my fans that pull for me week in and week out that put up with all the (expletive)." Stewart, driver of the No. 20 Chevrolet, retains his fifth-place standing in series points, with his total reduced to 2,599. Stewart's car owner, Joe Gibbs, was penalized 25 car owner points as well. The last Cup driver to receive a similar penalty was Dale Earnhardt Jr. who was docked 25 points and fined $10,000 for using inappropriate language during a live post-race interview following his win at Talladega, Ala., in 2004. |

| Re: Stewart penalized It isn't a suprise. I don't have a problem with it (other than the fact that it was just a "take that" move on Tony's part), but I bet Tony like a jacka$$ now that he's cost himself and his team some points. Not that it matters. Come chase time they'll all be closed up and with 2 wins, Tony will be right up there. |

| Re: Stewart penalized I guess I have a different view of the responsibilities of the subject of fandom. seems to me a personality would want his/her fans to not have to put up with "a lot of bulls#$&*" on their behalf. it is one thing to suffer the slings and arrows because of rivalries, but quite another when your hero acts more like the villiage idiot. but if that's the kind of hero you worship, more power to you. I prefer one who tries not to get into situations requiring his/her fans to take heat for his/her brain farts...

| Re: Stewart penalized Difference was Kyle was communicating with his team on his radio, and not bein interviewed. NA$CAR would catch to much flack from drivers/teams/owners for fining them when they are talking to their team. That was TNT's fault for hittin that radio frequency to soon.
