I liked Casey Mears on Inside Nextel. Don't know him all that well, but liked him. I was a HUGE fan of his uncle, Rick Mears, back when Indy was Indy. As for Mikey, you either love him or hate him. And nothing will ever change that. Just ask LSC!

| Re: Anybody watch Speeds "Inside Nextel Cup" tonite? kenny was giving back to mikey more than usual, at one point he said "atleast I raced this weekend" tooshaa!, the banter between mikey and kenny is one of my favorite things on the show. mikey has no problem poking fun at his self. |

| Re: Anybody watch Speeds "Inside Nextel Cup" tonite? Agreed! Kenny will shoot back at Mikey with no hesitation! |

| Re: Anybody watch Speeds "Inside Nextel Cup" tonite? Agreed, it can be fun! I just don't know how to take mikey these days. At times I think he is kidding, and at times I think he is really full of himself. I just feel he has changed. I was lucky enough to meet him pre-DEI, and it was one of my favorite moments, in meeteing any athlete. Then I met him after he won both of his Daytona 500's, and he was a VERY changed man. My opinions may be tainted a bit by that! |

| Re: Anybody watch Speeds "Inside Nextel Cup" tonite? What's new? He was a big jerk to Vickers as well. At least Kenny has the wit to fire right back at him. I just don't see what the medias infatuation with that pompous a$$ is? He is shoved down on throats constantly. Some caller on Wind Tunnel made a comment to Dave Despain about how he and Na$car all kiss his butt. Dave had nothing to say. |

I saw that too, and Mikey made a comment about that too! But I guess I would in his spot! |

| Re: Anybody watch Speeds "Inside Nextel Cup" tonite? What else can he do ??? He has no races to talk about. |

| Re: Anybody watch Speeds "Inside Nextel Cup" tonite? I watched it and there was nothing much new to hear, except for the scanner replay of Jr. Now that got my attention! I've never been a fan of Mikey, so I generally don't listen to anything he says. But it seems like after he left DEI, he's gotten a bigger arrogant attitude. Guess his qualifying record this year says more than he does. |

| Re: Anybody watch Speeds "Inside Nextel Cup" tonite? With this unnatural top 35 intitlement, Michael has had a hard time getting into the races, if on speed the record would be different. Let us look at his qualifying record for races that he has attempted. R-1=24, R-2=35, R-3=51, R-4=40, R-5=44, R-6=44. R-7=Rain/48, R-8=38, R-9=20, R-10=38, R-11=39, R-12=38, R-13=23, R-14=32, R-15=18, R-17=43, R-18=Rain/47, R-19=28. As any that have eyes can see 2 Races out because of rain, 3 Races out because of speed. 13 Races would have made the race if not for the top 35 rule. So don't be to hard on Michael, take it out on NASCAR. |

| Re: Anybody watch Speeds "Inside Nextel Cup" tonite? surprisingly, you won't find many fans in favor of, nor pleased with, the Chosen rule. it creates a terrible double standard that actually penalizes the "un-chosen". but we've been thru this all before... it was the owners who twisted NA$CAR's arm on behalf of their sponsors who caused this problem. and, fans disapproval not withstanding, it's the owners who need to fix the problem - which isn't likely as long as the strong teams have the advantage... Mikey and the 'yotas started out in a hole and haven't been able to climb out. I think if we looked at the total picture, without the Chosen rule we'd find more 'yotas in the race and fewer Chevies and Dodges - exactly what Roush wanted - yeah, right. as I remember, Gordo would not have made at least one race this year without using a past champ's provisional 'cause his speed, to put it mildly, sucked! so, while Mikey has had his problems (some self-induced), his performance hasn't been "that" bad. as King said, he'd have made 13 races if they lined up the fastest 43 every week.

35 out of the 50 or so other cars at those tracks qualified with race set ups. Those outside the top 35 ran qualifying with the fastest setup they could. If there was no top 35 rule you would see the top drivers as well run with full blown qualifying setups and who is to say that they wouldn't have been faster than Mikey. Mikey may or may not have been in the top 43, we just don't know. |

| Re: Anybody watch Speeds "Inside Nextel Cup" tonite? We had a thread kinda like this a while ago. That show had already been a disaster for a long time and SPEED is just allowing it to continue because it's somewhat intriguing. I don't doubt that they will come to blows, and the show is live so we'll all see it. That's the only reason SPEED lets it go on, I think. We eventually agreed that SPEED needs to forget this show - we have enough post race TV coverage as it is - and bring back Pit Bull, which can't be done because once NASCAR found out there were some negative comments about them making it to TV, they were done.
