| Re: NASCAR conspiracy talk won't go away based on the wording of my proposed question, highly intelligent is on the left or lowest numbered end. (sorry for the confusion, jks812, you're seeing the creation process in action and the confusion that comes with it .. we'll note your vote and transpose it to the proper scale position when the dust settles.)

| Re: NASCAR conspiracy talk won't go away NASCAR is faced with a growing need to defend not only its judgment but its integrity No crap Sherlock. What a flippin' genius you are!!!!! Lemme see. The sport/venue is growing beyond anyone's wildest expectations. Wildest!! So lemme get this right. There is surprise that in a growing environment/geography/marketplace of acknowledgment and recognition, that there is/will be a corresponding need to respond to inquiries with regard to it's foundational concepts and associated judgements and decisions?!? Whatta ya flippin' stupid? This not aimed at initial post(er) in any way shape or form. The media type that initiated this needs to be ignored. |

Let me s'plain. Stupid people DO NOT methodically acquire the shear amount of wealth NASCAR has acquired. Plus, once the wealth is acquired, stupid people don't keep it. NASCAR has, for better or worse, has done both. A couple of decades ago NASCAR realized that the generation of fans which brought them to the dance was , for lack of a better term, going away. Attrition by life span, as it were. The next generation have different ideas of what stock car racing is. (That's as far as I'll take that statement) NASCAR targeted this group and have succeeded in molding this new NASCAR for them. (I'll leave it at that.) No harm aimed at our generation; it was simply a marketing ploy and a business decision. I don't like it and I make no apologies that I dislike this current direction NASCAR is taking. But make no mistake, the people who pointed NASCAR in this direction ARE NOT STUPID PEOPLE! They may think tradition is a silly concept, when it doesn't make them money. They may have turned NASCAR into NA$CAR, where it is no longer a contest of motorized vehicles, it;s a contest of personalities and engineering. I might call them several names for turning NASCAR a event which values money over sport. I would never call them stupid, though.

| Re: NASCAR conspiracy talk won't go away Bob ... you ruin it for us .. you just ruin it !!! Very good explanation of what has happened to NASCAR today. I think on more than one occasion I've stated it is a business now and if I were in business I'd want to be making money. Business wise they have made all the correct decisions. Sport wise they are sinking the ship. There is no doubt in my mind that most of us feel the same way as you have explained it but once again I'll revert to a statement you made earlier in GTG history. We complain because we can. We still enjoy racing but we do have the right to complain. I'm sure that isn't word for word but the basics of the message are close. Thanks for a readable explanation of how we (me at least) feel. |
