Sun Valley (now Anderson Speedway) is a great little track. I believe it may be one of the fastest 1/4-mile tracks in the country. Late Models turn it in around 12 sec. flat and the sprint cars (Little 500-type) turn four laps in 45 sec.

| Re: Favorite Drivers & Misc I really don't have a particular driver I like in Busch and Trucks. I'm more of a "Race fan", as LSC would put it. As far as Cup goes, I like Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, and Dale Jr. I must have a problem, since I consider Jr over-rated, yet I want to see him do well!

| Re: Favorite Drivers & Misc Yep ,I remember Mike Eddy . He was who I pulled for. I've always wondered why as good of a racer as Mike was why he never went big. Its pretty much like Frank Kimmell. I'm trying to remember the guys name that announced the race's in Anderson. He was also an insurance sale man or something of that nature . I was born in Muncie ,but after the 4th grade my family moved to a tiny town of Albany and the insurance place was on the corner from my house . I can see his face in my mind but just can't recall his name . I went to school with a couple guys that raced at Anderson as well Roger Caudill and Rodney Rhonomus . I THINK that my uncle David Dalton raced there a couple times as well. Sure do miss those figure 8's I'm thinking the guys name was Gary Poindexter

I can tell you Mike's story. He just did not want to leave Michigan. He once told me that he was very content being a big fish in a little pond. Simple as that. But, believe me, he had a ton of very good offers. Caudill and Rhonomus...Figure 8 drivers. You must remember Gene Houston, Darwin Blankenship and Bob Fields, then? You might remember Denny Miles, from Muncie. He, Mike Eddy, Don Gregory from Dayton, John Baird and Kimmel's older brother, of Louisville, and the Clements Brothers, from Jeffersonville about owned Sun Valley, when I ran there. |

I just don't know why someone would want to race where they have won so many times ,as I said like Kimmell. Same goes for Steve Kinser. My b/f used to race in his early day's and he said that after a driver won so many times they had him to move on. He raced in Georgia . Sorry, none of those names ring a bell . What all Nascar driver's raced at Anderson? I know Mark did as well as Trickle, but have heard that Rusty did ,as well as Alan Kulwicki and Ted Musgrave . They have shown a couple races from Anderson on tv down here and I think, wow that track is so small . |

| Re: Favorite Drivers & Misc Who was your first favorite driver? My favorite driver died at Daytona 2001. I have ones I really like, but no real favorite. The current crop of "likes" are Kahne, Jr., Biffle, Edwards, Boyer, and Kenny Schrader who is currently without a ride. ![]() What year did you become a Nascar fan?[/b] 1979, the year CBS did the very first broadcast of The Daytona 500 on National TV. What Tracks have you been to an what is your favorite? Being originally from Northern California, I went to the first 5 or 6 Winston Cup races at Sears Point. Unfortunately, ovals are so far from me, I never had the opportunity to hit one, although I would love to get to Vegas or Phoenix some day. Also if you don't mind I'd like to know your first name ,if you don't want to say thats okay Short answer to a fairly long question.............Don ![]() |

First became a NASCAR fan in 1985. Big fan of Indy prior to discovering NASCAR. Been to Dover once, Loudon many, many times. Loudon is much more fan-friendly. Just call me Penny or PPS publicly. You are burnin' up GTG, aren't you! That's great!
