| DEI & Ginn I don't see this on here yet so maybe no one has heard. DEI either bough or merged with Ginn today. #01 team with Mark martin and Aric Amirolla now becomes DEI's 4th team. The #14's points go to the #15 (Menard) #13"s points will probably go to Furniture Row's #78 (Kenny Wallace) For some reason Ginn will be shown as owner of the # 01 and #15. I'm not sure to the reasoning here but when it's all offical tomorrow morning it'll all become evident. This isn't official, but it was reported by ESPN's Lee Spencer and SIRIUS|Dave Moody,and another hack whose name I don't recall, this afternoon about an hour and a half ago on SIRIUS Pit Lane program. Enjoy the discussion...

| Re: DEI & Ginn INDIANAPOLIS -- Dale Earnhardt Inc. will be a four-car Nextel Cup operation when it arrives at Indianapolis Motor Speedway after Tuesday's merger with Ginn Racing. Sources close to the situation said the deal was finalized late Tuesday afternoon and that an official announcement will be made on Wednesday. That means four DEI drivers -- Dale Earnhardt Jr., Martin Truex Jr., Paul Menard and Mark Martin -- are locked into Sunday's race at the Brickyard. Menard will pick up the owner's points held by Ginn's No. 13 car that was 34th. Bobby Ginn, who took over majority ownership of Ginn Racing late last season, will remain as a financial partner. Minority owner Jay Frye will remain in some capacity with the day-to-day operations. DEI president Max Siegel will oversee the operation -- which still will be known as Dale Earnhardt Inc. -- and current DEI executives John Story, Steve Hmiel and Richie Gilmore will assist Frye in sorting out personnel details, sources said. Under the merger, DEI acquires all of Ginn's assets, including its massive headquarters in Mooresville, N.C. The organization begun by the late Dale Earnhardt has been looking for land for almost a year because there is no room to expand at the current facility. Ginn has been looking for financial relief the past month without sponsor funding for the No. 13 car that was driven by Joe Nemechek and No. 14 driven by Sterling Marlin. Both drivers were given their release last week, with rookie Regan Smith moved into Marlin's car for the remainder of the year before the merger. Smith likely will finish the season splitting the No. 01with Martin, who has been running a part-time schedule. Sources said Martin is committed to running at least 22 races for DEI next season and work long term with the developmental driver program as he was at Ginn. The deal gives Menard, who was outside the top 35 guaranteed a spot in the field, a comfortable 244-point lead over the 36th-place car. |

| Re: DEI & Ginn Here's the latest I can find on Jayski; guess we'll find out exactly what's happening tomorrow a.m: UPDATE 3: ESPN's David Newton reported on NASCAR Now Tuesday that #01-Mark Martin, #1-Martin Truex, Jr., #8-Dale Earnhart, Jr, and #15-Paul Menard will drive for DEI this weekend at the Brickyard. Menard will be locked into the race using the #14 team's points. Ginn Racing CEO Jay Frye will stay with DEI. DEI will move it's motorsports operations to the Ginn facilities in Mooresville, NC. A determination has not been made on Regan Smith's future with the team. An announcment should come sometime Wednesday.(7-24-2007) #78 to get #13 owners points? UPDATE: hearing the #78 Furniture Row Racing team will 'buy' the owners points of the #13 Ginn Racing team unless a sponsorship deal can be put together for the #13 team to run at Indy. A deal could be announced for the owners pts early this week. Joe Nemechek was driving the #13 Chevy for Ginn Racing and was recently told he was free to look for another ride by Ginn Racing. Kenny Wallace drives the #78 Chevy for Furniture Row Racing. The #78 is 43rd in owners pts and out of a guaranteed starting spot; the #13 is 34th in owners pts and has a guaranteed spot in the starting lineup.(7-24-2007) |

Morgan-McClure did it this year when he bought Jim Finch's Misasugi (sp?) points. It's just one of those "NA$CAR deals." |

| Re: DEI & Ginn They say Aric is going to share the 01 with Mark and Smith is in limbo till they find a place for him. They didn't swap points. Ginn acquired the ownership of the 15 Menard so the 15 using Ginn's owner points from another of his teams is his choice from what I hear. Just had another thought, I wonder if Hendrick's engine shop wishes they had all their motors under their own roof tonight? Or do they? |
| |||
| Re: DEI & Ginn That's the first thing I thought when I learned of this merger. There goes the trade secrets right down the drain if Hendrick's engines are still in those cars. I can't remember if Ginn leased the engines or outright bought them. That'd make a difference, I'd think.

| Re: DEI & Ginn Well, with Smith in limbo, will he wind up in the #8 perhaps? I'm sure that's an unlikely scenario, but we have a driver without a ride, an open ride and a pre-established relationship. The only other thing I had considered is DEI trying to talk Martin into running the #8 full time and splitting Smith and Aric part-time in the #1.

| Re: DEI & Ginn I don't like the idea of teams buying/reasigning points. points should be secrurd to a team and car #, if that team/car# folds the point are lost. only exception would be a team changing hands in the off season or change of car # . I like kenny wallace but it anit right that he gets the free pass that him or his team didn't earn. seems that this is something that will help increase the cost of racing has points have a dollar value now.

I think this was an opportunity that was too good to pass up: Teresa had all those DE souvenir, Menards and Bud bucks - Ginn needed a transfusion... what an easy way to become a 4 car shop with veterans in place! the only problem was which drivers to keep and how to manage the young guys. Ginn took the Menards ownership so he could keep them bucks close. and they still have a shot at Shrub!

| Re: DEI & Ginn Found an interseting article about that. It was talking about how maybe she wanted to make changes at DEI and now she can with Jr gone. Sure seems that way. |

She always could make changes. Jr had no say at DEI. Never did, the closest he had was through public opinion. He wanted control she wouldn't give it to him. That is why he left. |

| Re: DEI & Ginn Dale Earnhardt Inc. and Ginn Racing Merge; Official Announcement: Dale Earnhardt Inc. has become even stronger through a merger with Ginn Racing. Effective immediately, the team will feature the Chevys of #15-Paul Menard, #1-Martin Truex Jr., #8-Dale Earnhardt Jr., #01-Mark Martin and #01-Aric Almirola. Martin and Almirola will combine to drive the #01 Army Chevy for the remainder of the 2007 season as well as the entire 2008 season. Menard drives the Menards Chevy, Truex drives the Bass Pro Shops Chevy and Earnhardt handles driving duties of the Budweiser Chevy. All four entries are inside the top 35 in Nextel Cup points heading into this weekend's Brickyard 400. Regan Smith, who was originally slated to drive the Ginn Clubs and Resorts Chevy in the Brickyard 400, will instead compete in the Craftsman Truck Series race at Indianapolis Raceway Park Friday night in the Ginn Resorts Chevy Silverado. Specific schedules for Martin, Smith and Almirola will be announced later. In addition to Nextel Cup Series competition, the company will continue to field entries in the Busch Series, the Busch East Series and will analyze its future involvement in the Craftsman Truck Series. The numerous teams of Dale Earnhardt Inc. will operate from both the original facility built by Dale and Teresa Earnhardt as well as the nearly 180,000-square-foot facility currently housing Ginn Racing's teams. The buildings are less than five miles apart in Mooresville, N.C. Dale Earnhardt Inc.'s current management team will be responsible for all day-to- day activities and transition plans have already begun to develop. John Story, vice president of motorsports operations for DEI will oversee the expansion of the company's racing efforts. In completing this merger, points on Ginn Racing's #13 car, which was 34th in Nextel Cup owner's points, have been eliminated.(Dale Earnhardt Inc PR), so it sounds like the #78 team will not get the points from the #13 team.(7-25-2007) Jayski.com |
