Carl Edwards has built a reputation quickly as one of the few remaining Nextel Cup stars who still appreciates the barnstorming ways of NASCAR's stars of old. But Edwards' habits for competing in short track events all over the place could quite possibly be getting curtailed very soon. While I haven't been able to nail down anything definitive just yet, there's some word spreading that Edwards, who drives for Roush Fenway Racing in the Nextel Cup Series, may have sustained an injury to his hand or wrist in a Super Late Model race on the dirt at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb. on Sunday night. -- Hartford Courant

If it's true, it depends on what extent the injury is, and which hand also.... otherwise I don't think it will phase him.

UPDATE 2: Interviewed on Sirius Radio'sThe Morning Drive, Nick Rubek of the Omaha World-Herald said that Edwards has been diagnosed with a dislocated thumb.(7-23-2007)
UPDATE 3: [Edwards] is not testing today at the Milwaukee Mile and will not test a Busch Series car Tuesday at Bristol Motor Speedway but likely will race this weekend in the Busch and Nextel Cup events in Indianapolis. The Roush Fenway Racing driver was having his right hand examined today by a specialist in Columbia, Mo., to determine if there were any injuries, according to the team.(SceneDaily.com)(7-23-2007)
